A topic on American expats got me wondering -how many pairs of shoes do y'all have? I thought it was a myth that some people really like to buy shoes, but apparently not. Imeldas live among us.
Me, I guess I have maybe 10 sets of footwear including flipflops, wellies, hiking boots, slippers, trainers, sandles and two never-worn pairs of formal shoes (one lace up flatties, one slip on heels) -"just in case". And I have 2 strappy pairs of shoes for fancy occasions -one seriously strappy, high and sexy enough for even beest to notice, the other a little more practical. So, in fact, I have exactly 10 pairs. no, I lie, I have some worn out trainers for painting etc. 11. All black. I didn't realize I had that many. However, that's nothing on the 50+ pairs apparently shoeaholics enjoy. Male and female.
What's your score?
Trainers, dress shoes, indoor footy boots, outdoor footy boots, cowboy boots (2 pairs), old trainers for doing the garden and a pair of workboots for winter.
I had more that I never wore but they were either a bit worn out or just crap so I threw them out a few weeks ago.
Ive got a a couple of pairs of dress shoes but mainly a few pairs of trainers. Ive been fortunate (or unfortunate as the case may be wink ) to be around outlet stores and various sales and Ive got a few pairs of trainers like Adidas and Puma originals and other various brands. I'm trying to estimate my collection, and I think I must have something like 20 odd pairs of trainers.
My missus has in insane amount of shoes and trainers, she has at least 20 to 30 pairs of shoes at least (she did work at a shoe store after all!! roll ) and my wife's sick obsession with trainers is worse than mine shock
She's easily got between 40-50 odd pairs and the collection keeps growing!!
Some of our trainers are on a shoe rack on one of our doors, and the top rack is like 3 deep of trainers, and every week we have a 'shoequake' Its like the game Kerplunk because I'll remove trainers and nothing will happen and then as I walk past I'll knock the door or remove/replace trainers and theyll fall and smack me on the swede roll
An Adidas Gazelle or Kick isnt so bad but an Osiris or DC shoe can make you see stars shock
Thanks to Monster bringing up the subject I'm going to do a head count tomorrow and I think I may be unpleasantly suprised
Particulary with Imelda 'old school' Marcos roll
I have two pairs of sneakers, three pairs of work shoes, one pair of sandals, one pair of dress sandals and one pair of winter boots.
I don't take after my mother and my daughter definitely does not take after me! Both mum and Katy have a rediculous obsession with shoes. Katy has over 20 pairs and my sister and I lost count of mums when she was working when we hit fifty pairs and there were still a lot left to count! shock they also both have an obsession with clothes.
I have 9 pairs
1 pr slippers
1 pr snowboots (for snowstorms and snow-shovelling)
1 pr new sneakers
1 pr old sneakers (for gardening, painting etc)
1 pr all-purpose open-toed shoes (I wear these most of the time)
1 pr all-purpose closed-toed shoes (I wear these most of the time when Iam not wearing the other pair)
1 pr lightweight walking shoes (worn one day this year and one day last year - I think I should get rid of them)
1 pr Landsend all-weather mocs (shoes of choice during cold weather)
1 pr water shoes (for wearing in lakes - I hate walking on mud and rocks!)
Dress shoes (2 ) pair 1 black 1 Brown
garden boots (1 ) pair
sneekers (1 )
casual (2 ) 1 around the house ,1 casual
I have some 25+ shoes, but some just hang around in my closet that really should be turfed out.
3 pr sneakers
6 prs dress shoes
10 prs slip ons, flip flops
The rest really need chucking
So 'fess up -who has more than 60 pairs -someone voted for it...... Do you have them organized by colour or style or.... ??
Is it an American thing? I was just in Home Depot and noticed what a huge range of special shoe storage things they have -and how many shoes they are all designed to hold! I never noticed them in the UK, but then I never needed to walk the storage aisles because I never bothered trying to put things away..... lol
Hiking boots, all seasons.
Suede boots, winter.
Slip ons/flip flops. by the bucketfull.
trainers, only one pair, cheap cheerful and washable.
lace up ankle boots, winter.
Color is not an issue, comfort is, so there isn't one pair of high heels in my closet. I can't believe it, i guess the suede boots with wedge heels are the nearest I get to a heel these days.
I'm actually quite stunned, I must have given up heels without noticing. Mind, when would you wear stockings in California. Certainly not in summer, or fall, or spring, and in winter I wear boots. oops
Dress, 4pr (I used to be a "suit"), 2 black, 1 brown, 1 oxblood
Boat shoes, 2pr one new, one old that i use as slippers in summer.
sneakers 1pr
work boots (steel toed), 1pr for site visits
work shoes (steel toed), --------do---------
slippers,1pr
total, 10prs
I've counted 20 pairs but there are more in the basement.
Two pairs of crocs,
four pairs trainers,
Two pairs of docs
Eight pairs high heels/kitten heels/dressy ones
Four pairs sandals/beach things
Basement shoes must be very old/non wearable and need bunging out. There are a couple of pairs of boots down there but one pair is platform. I have the water shoes.
Cycling cleats don't count.

I was the one who voted for more than 60 pairs.
I did a quick count of my wife's trainers and she had at least 45 pairs of trainers, and thats not including her sandles, flip flops and dress shoes which are stored in a big tote. I may have been a little conservative in my initial estimate, she must have at least well over 70 - 80 pairs. Maybe I'll take a pic of her shoes/trainers for prosterity?
errr confession time.......
I actually took pics of my trainers and sent them home for my family to look at. They used to tease me because as a kid (and an older kid) I would 'display' my new trainers. I never had no trainers as a kid (apart from woolies own brand 'Panther' )
45 pairs of trainers???????? WOW!
I'm utterly gobsmacked! How many are there of each brand and how does she decide which pair to wear? Are they all in service or is a museum in the future plan?
I dont know for sure how many of a particular brand (I will look) she's got but this is a list of her trainers.............
Adidas
Puma
DC Shoes
Etnies
Asics
Sketchers
Nike
The majority of her trainers are Adidas and she lurves Adidas originals. She's got all kinds of colours and styles. She usually matches her trainers to her outfits she wears so on a particular day so it can be anything
A lot of them are on a storage rack type thing and because we ran out of room there's trainers in their boxes and there's other trainers and shoes stored in a big tote.
We made a mistake with our trainers because we should have took pics when we bought them in mint condition just for the sake of recording all these shoes she's bought.
Over 60 for me and not one pair of sneakers/trainers. Some I have had for many years.A great pair of hiking boots I bought in Germany that cost more than any other shoe I have and a pair of bowling shoes!
