According to the BBC Peter Jackson will be producing a remake of the WW2 movie The Dambusters.
When I was a kid that film always seemed to be shown on BBC1 on a Sunday lunchtime!!
I liked that film and I think that Jackson and co will probably do a good job of it. Like a lot of war films it tells the story of a daring raid and of Barnes Wallis and how he developed the bouncing bomb and how it affected his life.

That could be very good but I just don't like so many of the re-makes of old movies. Hopefully he will prove me wrong and it will be a good movie.
Reading the end of the link it says he is currently making a movie of The Lovely Bones novel. Now that sounds interesting as I really enjoyed that book.
You may find it different though, it wasn't as successful or useful as they showed.
Having said that, I wish they'd go off and find their own stories.
Sounds interesting. I'll keep an eye out for it.
I guess the Dambusters raids were good propoganda at the time but (not taking anthing away from the achievement of 617 Squadron) the cost and actual damage caused didn't really warrant the effort.
Even Barnes-Wallis was horrified when he heard how many crews were lost. Still, his invention certainly worked and I think he made other bombs like the Blockbuster that was a little easier to deliver, if you forgot about the flak and intercepting fighters!
Wonder if Mr. Jackson will stay accurate and have Sqdn. Ldr. Guy Gibson's dog keeping his original, now-very-politically-incorrect name.
I think Jackson will do a great job and he now has access to documents that were not available when the 1954 film was made so we now get to see what the bomb actually looked like. Hopefully when he finishes this he will have a crack at 633 Squadron "da da da da da da dum dum dum"
lets hope its better than his last four fillums.... roll
