well there's a bloody surprised, once again people just clutching at strews. The guy is a fruit bat and if they could not figure that out from the get go,then they all need to be busted to beat coppers.
Quite.
I think most sane people called that very early on.
Ironically, a lot of folks in this country seemingly would have had him hanged on the tarmac.
Pardon me dudes but how the hell else do you get out of a Thai jail.? I didn't see it immediately but im indoors started quoting people who had served time and it makes sense. A child offender over there has a very short life span. I guess you'd confess to anything to get out. I'm just surprised that the authorities didn't see it. You do the crime and then you decide where you will pay the time. Face it, whether it's a terrorist or a child molester, they're not dumb, and unless they're the sucidal crew, they will survive, we simply shouldn't pander to them.
Ummm...
WASTING POLICE TIME for one...
and wasting millions of dollars of TV multicast bandwidth.
The idiot should be locked up for taking over the US for a week.
The phrase 'innocent until proven guilty' never seemed more apt.
However, the more cynical side of me agrees with Annie. I'm just not convinced yet that he was that clever. Also, most countries will not extradite someone before they have completed whatever legal process they are involved in there.
I guess the best thing to come out of this might be a few of the morons on cable news will have egg on their faces. Not that they would ever acknowlege it.
So he got a free ride home. Nice one. I'll remember that when I need to go home and can't afford it.

Yep, i'm going to start email correspondence with Scotland yard immediately saying that I am Jack the Ripper with a view to a first class flight back to blighty

He wouldn't have been arrested if the Americans weren't tracking him and asked the Thai authorities to make the arrest. The arrest was carried out as part of the extradition and the Boulder authorities had been investigating him for months.
It's not like he committed a crime in Thailand and the US jumped in to try him first. It was a co-operative effort and the Thais had no intention of holding him, beyond the time it took to get him extradited.

HE GOT A FREE RIDE HOME???? HE HASNT BEEN FOUND QUILTY OF ANYTHING the dicision to bring him home was made by the DA office >>they are supposed to be the professionals v<<< what if he did have champagne and shrimps on the journey . all you * bleeding heart liberal* types would be screeming from the hilltops that he was * picked on* with out enough evidence to charge him if his skin had happened to be of colour .
why is it different in this case ?
Quite.
I think most sane people called that very early on.

Funny thing is i have been following this case on TV on cOURT TV / CNN / FOX ETC they had him hanged (as you say) the next day when his family said he was with them they completly changed there tune and had him innocent of any wrongdoing .
All of this stuff is made up / conjured up / twisted / mis quoted / etc to feed to the * mouths wide open public * for ratings and unfortunatly most of the general public suck it up like milk to a baby .
Once again i see it as the accused being in charge of the case and not the prosecution any D/A worth his /her salt would have made sure the dna matched up BEFORE bringing him in from thialand .
The guys/girls in these positions are TO concerned about public opinion and there political future than arresting the *right person for the right crime *
The attitude prevails * lets get somebody * anybody for the crime so we can look good in the eyes of the public
Reminds me of the duke university rape case .
Nifong HAS no matching dna but still insists on accusing these guys ( spoilt brats they may be ) of rape cus his election propects rely on getting the black vote (support) from the area .
The missing girl in aruba natalee holloway ( tired of the valuble time used up on public tv to expound the views of her bigoted and * hollier than you * mother )is another instance of the nazi type individuals we have in powerful positions in this country .
The large mouth nancy grace and others of her elk have convicted the kid from holland of MURDER & RAPE when there is no evidence what so ever that the girl was raped let alone murdered .
At least in her favour D/A lacy did the right thing when she knew she has screwed up . that little rat nifong still insist on given these lagross players a hard time and ruining there future for the sake of some bigotted political agenda
Theses guys D/D should be the ones PROSECUTED for not being up to the task they where elected to do Do any of them subcribe to the idea of *Seeking the truth and justice for all * i doupt it Just another rip of politican come attorney we have to support on public funds .
END OF RANT

True.
Now he's got his court date in Sonoma though - five counts of possessing child porn and probably a new one for running away before his last court date.
Also, I should correct my previous post - Karr was not even arrested by the Thai authorities. They just revoked his visa, after Boulder DA asked them to, allowing him to be removed back to US. He was not arrested until his plane landed in L.A.
I think the media thought he was immediately guilty because they had been watching too much "Knight Rider" and figured he was as evil as K.A.R.R.
Once again i see it as the accused being in charge of the case and not the prosecution any D/A worth his /her salt would have made sure the dna matched up BEFORE bringing him in from thialand .
In fairness John, this wasn't an option. They had to get him back here first. I think the DA handled it well, she knew that their were issues with his confession and pretty much said so in her press conference.
I think your criticism of the media is well placed. I know little of the Duke case, but there is a broad issue with prosecutorial discretion and elections in the US.

Ageed:-) but it seems to be more prevailant than ever since the polarisation of the country between left and right .
