So we've all found our little spots to buy our much loved English treats but how about finding US stuff in the UK?
I'm going back to stay in October and couldn't remember seeing "Goober's" on the supermarket shelf! Or how about "Almond Rocca" or "Bull's Eye Q Sauce!" Can I get Enchilla sauce in my local Tesco? and how about a box of 'Corn Dogs?
Well i'm sure the English chocolate will probably make up for these things alone!!!Not to mention chips & mushy peas! grin
Sorry , it's been yonks since I've been back, but you could always try Indian markets, grocery stores, they used to stock Mexican stuff back in the 80's and seem to try to fill everyones request.
Try the Bournville, if you like dark chocolate, I miss that, and frys five boys, which I don't think they make anymore.
Best of luck, someone will know.
I noticed that Waitrose tends to have a selection of goods from over here.

Andrew )
Andrew is right, Waitrose used to come up trumps for Mr Dianey when we lived there for skippy peanut butter, Old El Paso taco stuff and Kansas City Barbecue Sauce.

They probably have more going on now than they did eight years ago or so when he was looking.
Most supermarkets stock the mexican stuff and peanut butter, but if you cant find what you want there are also websites that sell US food in England. I found 1 by accident once, will try and re find it for you.

to add, you can always try and contact the American Military bases as well...

Andrew
Good luck looking for tortilla chips to go with your runny Mexican El Paso food substitute..
Oddly enough I'm eating totilla chips right now.

Sorry mate but the base wont help, they are not allowed to sell or even give products to anyone outside of the base, its a crappy rule but it does exist. They made a big deal out of it while we were stationed in Japan.

Some shopping centres have a store called "Sweets From Heaven", which stock plenty of American stuff - all the American chocolate, Mountain Dew, various US breakfast cereals, even grape jelly. I know there's one in Bluewater, and I'm sure there's a fair few others around.

You can get some American foods in Costco. They have corn dogs, Pace salsa, Skippy peanut butter, Oreos, etc.

Waitrose claim to have American foods, but they are pretty much just American brands of foods that are easy to get anyway.

Someone mentioned Sweets from Heaven - they do stock some packaged things - Lucky Charms, Kraft cheese dinner, and sweets (of course). Basically all stuff that is really easy to live without, especially if you are talking £5 a pack. There may be local delicatessans that have an American section if there are a lot of Americans living nearby (we have one here - similar range to Sweets from Heaven).

There are places that stock highly specialised products (eg weird Mexican ingredients), and they will often have a web business, with much cheaper P&P than getting them from the US. Lupo Pintos in Edinburgh is one that springs to mind.

Ameriscot?

Another one comes out of the shadows....haven't seen you on here for ages.
Must be 3 years )
