Been there at least a couple of times once was a tour that included the hoover dam .
The first time was in a plane beautiful view but a bit gramped , hard to take pics out of the window .
Dont know if the plane service is still going ,I was "smaller " at the time and remember something about a sign that stated people over a certain wieght would not be allowed on the aircraft

Are you implying that I am "of a certain weight"? lol
We would be taking a road trip from Michigan. It appears that the temperatures are so varying that even midsummer is not a silly time to go if you don't plan to hike to the bottom, but (a) we might want to do that and (b) we will want to stop at places along the way where midsummer would be a very stupid time to visit. It appears the North Rim park is closed outside summer, though, and can get snow in every month. We are unlikely to do a plane tour because of the sprogs (expensive and potentially stressful).

My wife's hiked it, 1 day to the bottom, 1 day back out. The only Grand Canyon I've seen is the movie with Steve Martin.

We got there for sunset (this was about 10 years ago already!) - 4 hours drive to and from Vegas - stayed for about 30 minutes but it was worth it...stunning view! And then ... back to the gambling ;)

I've been like 9 times now.
When people come vist and want to see the canyon, it's all "whoopee, let's go look at a big hole in the ground. Again."
