Nice little French film, quirky and fun. The music is sublime. The plot involves an opera singer who won't record, a recording pirate, a bent cop, drugs and prostitution and a fabulous sense of humour. Oh and the opera singer is played by Wilhemina Wiggins Fernandez, who actually is an opera singer and a most beautiful black woman. In fact all the main characters are stunning, the Vietnamese girl, the artist, wouldn't throw him out of bed for eating crackers, but the postman is a bit wimpy. However a really really good film. Available at your local Netflix.
One of my favourite movies. More people should see this. Richard Bohringer is fantastic.
That tape machines a Nagra - would probably cost you more than a family car these days..
So many things about this film are just so right and it comments wonderfully on cinema(always a good thing)as well as telling a great story - romance/comedy/thriller
And the hero rides a crunch-box Mobilette
cool
Oh good, I'm so glad someone else has seen it. I've been trying, somewhat unsuccessfully to trace the music alone as a soundtrack, or even wilhemina singing the aria, but find nothing. Ah well, there are good reasons for being married to a geek.
BTW, have you seen Betty Blue, same guy directing I think!
Betty Blue is another Great movie - the book is really cool also, read that shortly before emmigrating. Beneiex made another highly rated movie called The Moon is in the Gutter - which I have not seen, but its got to be something really special to top Diva.
Doesn't look like netflix has it, or the
Version Longue of Betty Blue either, certainly worth tracking down for every last indulgent frame of it.
Dead expensive soundtrack for Diva here-
