Apparently a terrorist plot to blow up planes in mid-flight from the UK to the US has been broken up according to Scotland Yard. If youre travelling to or from the UK be prepared for more delays and no hand luggage.
The threat level has gone to critical.
Just when you thought it was safe to fly on a commercial plane.......

People are moaning about the cancellations and delays. F*****g morons!
I like this hand lauggage thing. Travelling long haul is a nightmare as it can take a couple of hours to get through security checks 'cos of all the hand luggage people take with them. If you haven't got children why so much? If you board last all the overhead bins are full with backpacks and stuff. Drives me mad. Keep the ban permanent.
yeah - if your luggage has wheels check it and see it fly in the hold with all the other luggage - bastards crushed my hat with "Hand luggage" that only just fits in the overhead bins. i thought hand luggage meant just that, not something bigger than my suitcase!
Still- at least they caught the bastards before they blew anything up.
The security forces have been on to them for months, apparently.
Let's hope this one is genuine and not another farce like the raid in Forrest Gate.
No, this is the real McCoy.
No, this is the real McCoy.
The side effect of this is that it will play into the hands of John Reid, who wants to turn Britain into a police state, and into the hands of the republicans, who will now jerk the threat levels up and down as they did in 2004, before the election.

Has anyone noticed that the threat level hasn't changed since the 2004 election, until now.

I was thinking the same thing.

Haven't seen the news so don't know all the details yet.

Okay, more hysteria.

As for hand luggage. What a pain.

Well there goes the cocktail hour mid Atlantic! Bugger.
Be alert but not alarmed is what I heard. What I understood was , take a boat! lol
Some woman at Oakland airport was in tears after being told to give up her shampoo!
If icould choose to fly anytime id go now .
Its the safest time as far as terror atttacks go they hav'nt had time to plan another attack and the security is razor sharp .

Of course there is always the chance of a of a plane going down thats not connected to terrorists but over the year as sad and disasterous as plane crashes or it been proven to be the safest means of transportation .

Silly cow.
Not planning to fly anywhere this year but have family coming out from UK next month.

I'd miss not being able to take my backpack and laptop with me but agree with the previous comments about some people that take way too much or too large "hand" luggage with them and glad they can't any more.

Still, if it helps guarantee safety then I guess you have to grin and bear it.

Bit odd though - if they busted them before they put the plan into effect and then announce it/impose blanket ban, they either want to worry everyone or there are more out there that weren't busted.
