Hi, I'm applying for a new UK passport and need to get 2 passport photos. I live in Chicago. Any idea where I can go to get UK-standard passport photos while I'm still in the US?

The Picture People will do passport photos for any country and they are fairly inexpensive. I just got mine done a couple of weeks ago. Here is a link

I have found a couple of places around dallas that are aware of foriegn pass port requirements. Its a case of looking around abit.
Print off the photo instructions from the British Passports webpages and take them to any store that does passport photos. CVS are very cheap.

I went to CVS too to get mine done. The British Embassy accepted them
I made my family stand in front of a white door. Thus saving me $40. I cropped them to approx 3.5 x 4.5 with a stanley knife! grin

Yep, us too for the kids passports. Got to go again soon for mine.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions..
As an alternative and if like me, you rather get everything done online, I discovered that you can download/buy a software called PassportPhoto (http//www.onthegosoft.com/passport_photo.htm). It complies with UK, US and several other countries' passport photo regulations. The whole process can be done online.
I'm going to try it, but can't see a reason why it doesn't work )

Just remember not to smile... apparently they don't like it if you smile in your UK passport photos!
For what it's worth, when I needed my passport renewing, I called the consulate in Boston and discussed any questions I had with them. They were very helpful.
Isn't the only way to contact them regarding passport questions is to use their $2.10/min Passport Helpline number??
Yes it is! and I may be calling it soon if they don't hurry up with my apps. I sent off for 4 passports with all the necessary documents all neatly labelled. They sent it me back saying some photos were missing! They fell out of the old passports I sent them! They really made a mess of my apps. anyway I daren't complain too much cos I need them before September!! So off they went again yesterday!
mad
We recieved our passports today!! Seems they superimpose the photographs now and don't use the originals. Well I had no complaints with my home done photos. You just have to make sure the head is not too big, too small, that the eyes are forward, pixels small, no sunglasses(duh) no face coverings, no smiles!(even though the kids are smiling) I don't think they care too much about that one!
Ooh and the passports have those little chips in them now for swiping!! smile
