Congratulations mate - nice little bit of recognition.
Went to your group's website too and congrats on being the best in Michigan too!
You'd probably hammer me about 90-0 - next time I am back in UK, I should mail my Subbuteo stuff over and get some practise in.

Is your opponent trying a seven man offside trap there?

 Yeah I noticed that - flat back six with a sweeper. Did you recognise that from Oxford United tactics?

Yeah, and those subbuteo players are as quick to react as the United defence too.
But, still the Conference champions, 2006-07.... Sucks to be playing against the likes of Stafford Rangers and St. Albans City...

It's how the game's played now, lots of D cos it's too easy to score from the middle of the park.
I usually play a sweeper, 4 defenders, 2 "wing backs", a midfielder and 2 wingers.
Doesn't matter if I only take 4 strikers to a tournament with those tactics roll
I would hope to keep the #1 rank in the state for a bit yet, seeing as I brought the game here. It's not been an easy ride though. I expect to lose it in the next couple of years. 11yo Thatcher will be after my title soon I bet.

I never played subbuteo, but before I ever heard of it, My brother, cousins and I used to cut little "men", squares with a V-notch for the legs, out of stiff paper board, and paint them with different team colours. The ball was a circular piece of the paper board and it was played on a smooth table. the player nearest the ball owned it. Passing had to be accurate or your team lost the ball.

I've got some subbuteo men that look really old and are cardboard, not plastic.
No idea on the history of them. Should look it up sometime.
