Hi Britnet peeps,

It's been a while but I thought you might like to know how I'm getting on.

Miss CR Jr will be 2 months tomorrow and there has not been much room in my life for web based fun since I left the US in April.

My wife and my new baby finally joined me in the UK on July 10th. So we're all together again. I collected them from Italy the same weekend as the World Cup Final. Victory was all the sweeter as I decided to put £100 on Italy to win the World Cup. I'm no expert but I thought having a daughter born in Italy the week the world cup starts was a major clue....I banked a £1000 quid on that little hunch. razz

Life in the UK is fine. Job is going well . My old flat is a bit small for 3 but we'll sort that out over the next few months with a move.

I do miss New York from time to time. I prefer it as a city to London (and it's a lot cheaper to live in the US that the UK). However, there is not a huge gap in my liking for the two. Our US adventure was great but I think we'll stop in London for a bit and if we were to move again I try something new. The company I'm in now is big in Asia so in a few years that could be a blast if Mrs CR can be talked around.

I'm glad to be back cycling to work again - if anyone knows the route from Hammersmith to Putney along the river - you might agree it's a great commute to work. Plus the tube systems is well and truly knackered - based on every journey I've tried to make on it.

I think I learned a lot in the US and I'm pleased i went...but now I'm back. I'll log on from time to time but not too much. One of the best things about living in the US was discovering BritNet. I've enjoyed getting to know the characters on here and appreciated all the advice and support that was given so freely. Thanks all. I wish you all the best in whatever your doing, wherever your doing it.

My life back in the UK is different to the one I left behind. The main difference is the small little lady who now takes centre stage in our lives. A picture for the curious . They say she looks like me.... shock
Anyway, we're doing OK. Hope you are too.
Nice post, CR; It sounded like a goodbye but I hope you'll pop in now and then to let us know how things are. Glad you are all doing well. )
Ditto what KG said, do let us know about the goings on.
Good luck in your new ventures and do please keep us in the know now and then.
Congrats on your daughter's arrival. Glad to hear you are all together again.
Boy I got tired of the London underground in three days, it was overcrowded and dirty.

Good luck with the life you've chosen to live in London, hope you will drop in and visit to keep us updated. Take care - Ginger
Lovely to hear how things are going )
Nice to hear from you and glad things are going well!

Keep in touch now!

Debs x smile
I'll promise to tune into your overseas antics from time to time...
There's a lot to catch up now my visits are fading..
All the best.
Congrats on the little one. More than a little envious of you getting back to blighty, not least because I know that route from Hammersmith to Putney very well as I lived on the Barnes side of the river close to the Putney line (like 20ft away) when I was at college. Autumn on Putney common isn't quite New England, but New England doesn't have the pubs on river bank nearby....
Good luck and enjoy the little one.
This is the kind of thread that makes one want to send clones of oneself to live in the different places for which, we are nostalgic, all with linked minds so we could experience all of the enjoyment.
Iknow the route . its part of my past .

i had property of putney high street ( opposite the southern railway station ) and a flat in edith grove chelsea your post bring back memories , there was a pub on the corner of putney high st and richmond road called* Flanagans* i doubt its there now , i could walk *stagger * from there to the house in Norroy road when id had a few to many .
Many a good rock group was heard there and in the pub near the embankment just of felsham rd( think it was called the railway hotel ) and all the partying took place in the markham arms and worlds end pubs kings road .

It's not called flannagans any more John, but it was still there four years ago. I don't recall the name, but it seemed to change identities at regular intervals as the area became steadily more gentrified.

See how many of these you recognise:

The Fox and the Spotted Horse are old haunts. The Slug and Lettuce was the White Lion I think.

memories......

Great to hear all is well with the CR family. Thanks for the update. smile
