No this is not the newest member of our Britnet family, this is a 5lb ball of black and white fur with short legs and really big ears. He is a Cardigan Welsh Corgi who is still learning how to chew, likes shoelaces and actually hasn't pooped yet!!!
Something tells me we are going to have a late night, and the cats are going to be rarely pissed.
My wife bought him to show, apparently he is going to make our fortune, his full name is Hope On Prince Of Wales (I know, don't tell me).
Pictures to follow...
Sounds like a real cutie, can't wait to see the pics.
I would think going into the shows would be fun , lots of travel included and we might even see you on tv .
Woohooo!!
Congrats. Looking forward to pictures!!
I still miss Jack terribly, I also miss the fact that for some reason you always felt safe knowing that his radar would always alert you you to something odd going on outside.
I know when I went away that Jack certainly made Emily feel safe at home (not that it's dodgy here but just his presence was enough) so we're looking to rescue some puppy that will turn into another 90lb dog when I stop traveling at the end of the year, possibly another Shepherd mix or a Rottweiler.
Whatever happens, Widget will knock it into shape!

Thanks for the support I must admit I was very reticent to get a dog, when I moved out here I had to find a home for my beloved German Shepherd and that was really tough on me, so I have been very quiet about this. Wife brought him in from the car last night and he proceeded to climb on my chest and fall asleep.
Why do they have to be so damn cute?
Pictures !!!
I have no idea if this is going to work I am using the add file thingummy.
Oh my...gorgeous.
Because they know who needs some love, not to sound too soppy, but it's all electrical IMO (and I don't believe in mumbo jumbo).
We found Jack in the March of 1996 and we all immediately bonded. When my Dad died later that year on June19, Jack simply would not leave me alone and eventually became part of my therapy after my breakdown and 6 months off work.
Working with him, exercise and taking him to visit terminally ill people he became more than just a dog. He would know immediately anytime I felt sad, out of it whatever and would do something. I think it's all to do with whatever energy one gives off when you feel upset and maybe seen or recognised as a distress signal to a dog.
I simply can't wait for the season to be over. I love cats (and Widget is simply adorable) but with a dog it's different. Our home hasn't felt quite right without one (and I wasn't keen on one before we got Jack, you know the usual, fur everywhere thing) but know I'd relish some tufts of his fur on the sofa...
You lucky thing.

Charlie's beautiful, even if he is welsh lol
I don't know how dogs sense things, some of the service dogs are amazing, some of them sense an epileptic seizure well in advance, some of them detect cancer. There was a case of a show dog who was also a cancer dog, and she pointed to the judge at one show so the judge went for tests and had a very early diagnosis.
I've felt sorry for the service dogs sometimes, they don't seem to show spirit, tails seem to be hung down, etc. but then I heard of several that become normal, mischievous and opinionated dogs when the harness is removed.
Cute dog - enjoy the company, love and attention. I'm sure Charlie will!
Oh he's lovely, and quite a determined little chap too by the look he's giving us all in the second photo. Well done, what a great addition to your family.
londonsquare - let me tell ya, service dogs for the most part are actually the craziest of the bunch WHEN THEY ARE NOT WORKING... They need that drive/motivation to learn the complex things we teach them. So don't be sad when you see them moping along, they are just being well behaved )
