So, tell us all about it :)
If you want to that is ;)
Hi y'all - well we've been back a week tomorrow. And I'm still fighting jet lag... Our trip was so busy, on the go all the time, I've had to come home to rest. But alas that has not been possible either. I have managed to crash the past couple of days.
I drove all over the place, with no problems. That was a shocker. We toured all the villages etc. showed daughter, granddaughter and daughter in law where I was raised and where hubby and I got married. That was the first week.
Of course in that week, we found the local bakery, with fresh cream chocolate eclairs, strawberry long doughnuts with fresh cream, my daughter in law fell in love with some pecan danish. (we had to go back several times just for them) Then there were the 6 inch long sausage rolls, the eccles cakes. And of course fish n chips several times over.
But, we also walked miles, to the point our legs couldn't carry us anymore. We went to London on July 4th of all days. And were staying on "Billionaire's Row" across from Regents park. No we weren't in the main house, we were in the back staying in the chefs apartment. ;-)
The road was blocked off that day, because the American Consulate lives on that road, along with the largest Mosque I've seen in awhile. Security was tight, but at midnight the consulate let off fireworks. I slept through the whole thing, but my crew saw some of them.
The zoo just happened to be on the other side of Regents park, and of course my granddaughter wanted to visit that. So we did! then we saw a Shakespeare play in the park that night.
Took the boat along the Thames, played in Madam Tussards, and of course went shopping on Oxford/Bond Streets, and joined thousands of others the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace.
By the third day in London, I was finished with the underground, and walked our luggage to the roadside and hailed a taxi to get back to Liverpool street.
We had a great trip, but have to be very honest. It was a trip of closure for me in many areas. My gals with me learned many things including that there is a great difference in our cultures, and language/slang. It was quite a laugh watching them learn some of the local words.
Our flight back took ten hours due to head wind. But I have to say both flights on Delta were fantastic, they fed us nonstop, and flights were very smooth.
We got very involved in watching the World Cup, and when in Ipswich daughter and I even purchased England Footie outfits, the shorts, shirt and hat. That was a laugh and a half. We were going to wear them home on the plane, but then England got knocked out. So now I guess we'll wear them for Halloween... ;-)
I have to admit am very happy to be back in Florida. Now to process all our photos, between three of us, we must have taken close to two thousand. Two of us were using digital thankfully.
And after all that eating, I only gained half a pound, so was thrilled when I returned to my weight watchers program this week. It was all that walking kept me going... 8)
