What is it exactly in the US that we Brits are supposed to celebrate? shock
I think I am just going to get some beers in and celebrate our unlucky exit from the World Cup!
I was going to enjoy my 'freebie' day off, watch another World Cup match and just generally veg out as usual.
But ended up getting an invite to a city council member's party so will put in an appearance there in the afternoon.
Anyone fighting the urge to break out the British flag on Tuesday?
Thought about it actually. I am sure it would raise a few eyebrows. It would upset a few I am sure.
Looks like we're going to be in a parade. Have not yet completely ruled out taking the Union Flag. Do you think I shouldn't? The theme of the parade is "The Grand Ole Flag" and everyone is supposed to dress in red white and blue, so I though it'd be great.....
That sounds great, Monster. Don't foget to take photos )
We have been invited to a bbq - brits and a Canadian grin

4th of July..Emily had to remind me that it was in fact this Tuesday as I tend to not really know what the dates are until we get close to a race weekend and my iCal reminds me that I have a plane to catch etc etc...
I will update you on plans for Tuesday. I think we may take the Xterra off road somewhere!
Andrew :)

Well for starters it's a day you don't go to work, if you're lucky.
We'll be pool side, eating a tri tip and generally doing sod all that doesn't involve a lot of nothing.
At least we're luckier than some poor folk down in Salinas. They sit on their rooves with a hose pipe cos there are still so many illegal fireworks in California, usually in the hands of the inebriated idiots who often have no idea that what goes up has to come down. Hence the fire season.
Happy 4th everyone, and don't forget the song, "Jose, can you see?"
I'll just spend the day celebrating the fact that we lost the war and got of rid them bastards forever.
The usual stuff work in the home and yard .
Wife will be home so unless he has alternative things to do thats how it wlil stay .
Looking to watch the discovery launch ( if it happens ) then watch some wimbledon tennis and perhaps take a peek at the germany italy game .
just a stay in and hang about afternoon.
Sleeping, will probably wake up during the Italy v. Germany game, going to work & missing fireworks.
I tend to go into hiding lol. Being a Brit yea always get "Well we kicked your arse, oops sorry ass". To which I tell them "only with the help of the French and spanish that we also happened to be fighting as well lol.
They seem to miss that part in the history book lol
We used to tell the locals that it was our thanksgiving day.
I'll be going to a neighbors, I'll watch a recording of the football later. It's being repeated at 930, on ESPN2.
It's been over 200 years, get over it already is what I say.
;)
Regards
Nigel
It will have been 401 years since Guy Fawkes tried to introduce a sensible resolution to parliament, but it will still be celebrated this year.
Besides, there are too few days off here, as it is. razz
After failing to come out of the fog of depression due to England comitting another balls up at a major football tournament my wife clled a friend who has a house overlooking the San Francisco Bay. We went there last night and had a spectacular view of fireworks displays that were occuring in Oakland, on Fisherman's Wharf and in Sausalito. Amazing views, steaks on the grill...nice!!
