It's been mentioned quite a bit lately but ABC now lets you download some episodes on your PC http//abc.go.com/fsp/index.html

There was talk a while ago about the BBC doing the same thing. Would be nice to get some BBC TV straight to the desktop instead of relying on other means.
I must be dense. It opens with a Hanes ad, and a bits from Desperate Housewives, everything else seems to lead to chats with the staff of the selected show, or wallpaper or ringtones.

I did hear of them allowing downloads to increase the number of people seeing the ads, although local affiliates don't like it.

The BBC can do better selling the downloads since they don't sell advertising.
I have constantly e-mailed the Beeb telling them there are so many expats who would gladly pay $5-$10 a month for full access to what they provide UK based broadband visitors.

Much better than the Discovery Britain tripe they slap a BBC label on. It's not what it says on the tin!
There is a bit of gear that you can get in the UK that lets you down load UK tv to your PC. No matter where you are in the world.

Thinking of getting it for my sister in the UK so I can watch UK TV lol
Tell me more, tell me more...
I think that the CPU in the UK must be on the channel that you want to watch, could you set up a box in the UK and control it from here? you would need to monitor its display to know what actions were needed.
Sounds like 'Slingbox' which is a neat idea but not quite as good as it sounds.....yet.

Slingbox

You can control it remotely and change channels from wherever you are in the world. The box sits amongst your other equipment and is able to control any part of your A/V equipment.

When it works just a little better, it might be worth investing in a setup at an understanding family member's house in UK.
That TVU player isn't bad but has no British content. Tell someone to hook one up in the UK and send us the link. Other that there is BitTorrent of course.

That Idea was originally floated by Greg Dyke, along with Making most, if not all, of the BBC Archive available for download....

The Idea probably went the same way he did from the BBC........

It appears to be happenning
