Summer is here, at last, officially that is. We're set for triple digits and began the day with a power outage. We were warned, but PG&E said between 8am and 8.30am. Needless to say the power went out at 7.45am, no coffee, argh! and stayed out until 9.45am. Supposed to go out again between 2pm and 2.30pm, who knows.
If I remember correctly today is midsummers day in UK, am I right?
How come the power went out? Local construction work or the shadow of Enron still hovering over California?
Two leaky transformers apparently. I rang the chap, one Osvaldo Flores to ask what was going on, and blow me, he called me back. Assured me there was no chance of toxic leaks but understood my concerns. Very polite and nice.
Something to do with the new power plant in Coyote Valley, which I was totally against and the company which set it up has since gone bankrupt. So after the fiasco of the high tech co. promising to build an entire office complex there, a new and vaguely functioning power station, a brand new off ramp from 101 we have fields of corn, lettuce, and peppers with some of the best transport access in the whole of California.
Mind, if we get loads of triple digit days we could be short on power. Ah well, at least it's hot and not cold. grin
I had to drive through the Mojave last week, I feel your pain!!
Hey Eastendboy, according to the weatherman you're going to be as hot over there tomorrow. 103 if our rating. I wish i had the energy to complain, but I don't, and besides, it's slimming and nothing aches. lol

You're right it has been building all week...I EVEN sat by the pool last weekend. It will definitely top 100 as weather.com has us at 95 and they are always wayyy to low. Actually I am acclimatising to this type of heat and I am blissfully unuaware of winter
It's a nice comfortable 75 with sea brezzes down here...aaaagh bliss...
Sun at last.

We've already had as much uncomfortable heat and humidity here as you would have the entire year in Britain. And summer hasn't started until today...
Summer started beatifully here.
Got caught on the wheeler in a hail and lightening storm Monday evening. We got just a tad wet mrgreen All in a days fun, we haven't been out on it yet without getting wet. Fisrt time we toppled it in a mud puddle, second time we had to stepin a stream to get it up the banking and then the darn hail/rain storm.
I'm beginning to get paranoid now.
