I just found this in a link on a local Buffalo football website...............

http//www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/sports/14741693.htm
I think this article borders on being rascist....... evil
see what you think?
He's an ignorant sod, isn't he?

Doesn't like nuance, probably a Bush supporter lol
I think this pretty much sums up the whole article

"...It's time to quit apologizing and tell the truth. When it comes to soccer, we're right, and the rest of the world is wrong..."

And people wonder where the stereotype of Americans being arrogant and believing that the US is the center of the world comes from!

"...If they want to dance in the streets of Cameroon or Belgium over this stuff, fine. But the sport does not suit American taste, and we should stop feeling guilty about it..."

I think the US soccer team, coaching staff and fans may disagree with you there, Tom roll

Sad. Very, very sad.
Prime tosser!
He's just sore that they keep cutting away from the exciting golf for a classy World Cup match on ESPN or ESPN2.

I did laugh at the rationale though of how footy is so poor and American sports are so much better because they score more. I like basketball a lot but it's obviously aimed at people with ADHD (your average American??) because the players score on almost every play - they should have a test afterwards on who scored when and how.
The man's a fool.

Debs x roll
"We catch footballs"

Then for heavens sake please call your stupid game something else, like hand ball or Rugby-Rip-Off for example.
H e said he would have a colonoscopy than watch footy ( soccer to the uneducated ) .

iI think he needs one there is something wrong with his asshole .
he talks out of it .

He he, yes, and talking about that, I wonder if Tom has ever actually watched a Baseball game? It certainly isn't like they make it out in the movies. Don't be fooled by Bull Durham et al. people, because while I was living in America, I went to see the Atlanta Braves play the Florida Marlins, and I can honestly say it was the most boring sports game I've ever seen: not only were there no home-runs, but there was no runs at all. Everyone just stood around the pitch for a couple of hours, occasionally someone would throw the ball, then there'd be a break. After two hours of play, the game ended 0 - 0. I don't think anyone even made it off second base!

Now that's what I call boring.

John, that is just so funny and so ironic that you post that because I e-mailed that prat and basically told him the same thing!!!

There are so many holes in his article it just jumps out at you right from the start. I was soo annoyed at his remarks that I just wrote a long sarcastic e mail.
Here's my e mail, it's not perfect but I replied out of anger so it wasnt exactly structured:-

I read your article about the world cup with some interest.
First of all, I do believe in the freedom of the press, but there's no excuse for your brand of typed up diahorrea. Ive watched the world cup around bars and a sports venue and the majority of fans are american, and legal.

Is it just a flight of fancy on your part that in your giant ego and tiny mind that you think that no one in the USA cares? The viewing figures for ABC and ESPN seem to indicate otherwise. And incidentally these games are commercial free, which I imagine would be a problem for the likes of you because you havent got the attention spell to watch 'live'sports for twenty minutes without a commercial break for Coors lite or for a ' shiney big' Dodge Pickup. Presumably 'High Definition' means you can watch obese linemen wrestling with each other for 3 plus hours?

But of course all the world loves the NFL and the MLB? And we all are aware of all the subtleties and the majesty of committee which is the NFL? Or the duel of pitcher versus batter? We actually have a sport where the word 'world' actually means WORLD and not some microcosm hyped up by hacks like you. Soccer is growing and will continue to grow and as much as you hate it and the fans of the sport you wont stop it. So deal with it.

You do the american public an injustice by judging them by your own measly standards. Are you really suggesting that americans are so one dimensional that they cant use their feet and head? The american public are savvy enough to watch and play any sport. And incidentally, that golf game and tennis game (you know with the hands and all?) was invented in the British Isles by the same race of people who invented soccer. Maybe theyre just more industrious than you?

Errr.... Incidentally, you might want to notice those two men running down the side of the soccer field lines called 'Assistant Referees' Theyre a part of the game too, you know on this field the size of Rhode Island, and incidentally, you might want to look at the Cleveland Browns fans who pelted the officials with bottles after the game. You tell me any game where officials don’t take any heat?
You ever been to an NFL MLB or even an NHL game? Ive got relatives who do security jobs there and there is fighting going with drunken and non-drunken fans before, during and after Bills and Sabres games. But of course the world cup doesn’t have Ron Artest or any other Pacers or Pistons players who go into the crowd and assault fans. Or baseball fans who jump on the field and attack coaches?
Or any fans like the Red Sox, the Lakers or the Oilers fans who decide to riot after after making the Stanley Cup or winning these phoney 'World' titles.
Maybe you should start looking closer to home at the 'Love Boat Cruise' and all rest of the NFL, MLB and NBA players who have been convicted of crimes.
The word 'hypocrit' comes to mind.

Trust a moron like you to try to associate 'world power' with a lack of soccer prowess. Does it make you feel good? Does it massage your ego? Do you look with disdain when american troops play soccer with Iraqi children? Or are they a lower species compared to you because they use their feet?

To be quite honest I would sooner you have a colonoscopy than watch the world cup. Because you’ve obviously been talking out of your ass for a long time.
There is such a thing as 'constructive criticism' and you are definitely not constructive, all I read are the comments of a xenophobic bigot. There shouldn’t be any room for rascist remarks like yours in any sport or newspaper.

I dont know if I'll get a reply but if I do I'll let you know!!

Funny, I emailed him too, but I just suggested that he needed the colonoscopy so he could stop talking out of his ass.

I like your treatment, Boards lol

Brilliant. Kudos to you mate!!

Wonderful! Can't wait to read the response
I was a little more brief in my email:

Quote:
I quote from one of my (LEGAL immigrant) compatriots:

"He said he would rather have a colonoscopy than watch soccer
I think he needs one there is something wrong with his asshole .
He talks out of it ."

Racist and geocentric at best.

Pathetic hickmongering pseudo-journalism at worst.

I was briefer still :

You really are a tosser, aren't you?
