Hi everyone, I finally decided to apply for my naturalization this last December, and now have an appointment for the latter end of July. What can I expect at my appointment? And will I be sworn in at the time? Or have to come back? I am a little nervous, but I don't know why. Any and all experiences shared would be appreciated.... Thanks in advance! grin
Presumably you were told to study the books to prepare for the questions? If your interview is like mine (which was pre-9/11) it's pretty easy. They confirm all your details, ask you to write something in English and answer correctly ten questions on history/government. It's a doddle - but it does help to have studied the books and be somewhat aware of current affairs.

You will then be sent by mail the date, time and place for your citizenship ceremony. In my case it was four months after the interview.

Good luck! D

Yes I have most of it remembered, however I haven't yet checked on a few "current" people, such as the Supreme Court Justice, I remember it's a new one, but don't remember his name. And I have to check on my state's govenor and senators, as I have only been here for a year.

I will check on these just before the interview...I am looking forward to it

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. Just study those questions/answers on the website and you'll be fine. It's just a formality really.
The questions are not hard if you read the book you should be okay .

it rakes a few months after the interview and exceptence to be sworn in depending on the area you live in .

be prepared to jion 100s of others for the ceramony . mine was held in a school theatre and it was packed you get to register to vote at the same function ladies come around and sign you up and you recieve your voting certificate in the mail a little later , nobody asks you any questions about who you would vote for ,or incase you are wondering any questions about your british citizenship .

when yopu get the papers apply for a passport then like me you will have both british&american

GOOD LUCK -)
My swearing in was pretty cool. It was in the Old State Capitol, in the same room that Lincoln made one of his famous speeches.
I did mine last year i think it was ?? Just answered the questions (picked by the computer) didn't have to read or write anything in English shock I took the oath ceremony the same day 2 hours after my interview. Good luck you'll do fine -)
