Is the euphemism "Sticky Fingers" used in the US?
Hubby says no and you might get some strange looks using it!! grin
Did you mean "sticky" or "stinky"? lol

really? Oh dear. I'm doing "paper plate" awards for the girls soccer team, and I wanted to call the one for the good goalie the "sticky fingers" award. Hmmm.....

The coach has given me a list of traits which I need to turn into "witty" titles. Beest's been great at this, but we're having a little difficulty keeping them at 9-year-old American girl level. For example one of Beest's best suggestions was the "Hobo" award -for the girl the coach describes as "at home any where on the field" I thought it was excellent, but do you think the girls/parents might find it offensive?

OK, I think I'm going to need help here. Here is your challenge for the day:

This is the list of "traits" the coach has sent me, with the best titles we've some up with so far. Can you do better/fill in the blanks? (Remember these are 9yo girls...... ;))

We used to call good goalkeepers something to do with cats - probably after Peter "The Cat" Bonetti who played for Chelsea in the early 70's. The two cats I've had have all been pretty good keepers too!

We also used to call an old Argyle keeper, Rhys Wilmott (ex-Arsenal) "Mr. Magneto" as he'd block really hard shots and hold onto the ball, as if he was magnetic. That might work a bit better than the "sticky fingers" term.

Just don't have a "Tony Adams" award for the team donkey wink
Enthusiasm and effort.............how about The Hustler award?
Thanks, guys. I asked an American (yes I did really -I'm that brave.....) and she liked sticky fingers but told me no go on the hobo.

I thought of Velcrose Gloves. Jello gloves would be closer to the truth...... ;)

Do you think I can use BALL GRABBER for the one that steals the ball from the other team? lol or BALL BUSTER?

anyone like BOMBS AWAY! for the throw-ins one?

We changed this one to CRUISE MISSILE at the last minute. Just hope they aren't violently (;)) anti-war with no sense of humor!

Let's hope it's a success!

Our soccer season has been a complete washout; sunny-boy has only managed to play 2 games and have four practices since we started in mid-April because of the incessant rain - especially on Wednesdays and Saturdays! All the town fields are saturated. It's been a complete let-down for all concerned.
It was rather like that at the beginning of the season, but we only lost one game that got rescheduled and a few practices. Our main problem has been that the rain has caused the grass to grow so much the city seems unable to keep up with the mowing, so we're practising and playing in hayfields! Anyway, Hector's last game is done, Hebe's is in an hour and the weather is lovely. Sunny but not too hot )

Thanks eveyone for all your help -the plates are done and lunch is ready so all is well in the beestmonster household )
