Interesting site. Bit slow to load. Turns out I'm one hundred percent English, from the top of the Pennines, with both my maiden names. With my married name, well, it's geordie, I'm all over the place. lol
98% English. Seems there are a lot around Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire, Berkshire.... mrgreen
Hells Bells, I'm Welsh !

I knew my paternal grandfather came from Shropshire and I did suspect that the name had a Welsh origin.

Does this mean that I have to stop taking English type digs at Welsh people now ?

I checked my mother's maiden name, The name is from Taunton, her home town, the index is 3222; the incidence in Taunton is 32.22 times the UK incidence. This is not surprising since I have, or had, about 40 first cousins in that area, and many of them are probably grandparents now; that crew tends to breed early. lol
What an interesting site. Thanks, Annie.
Surprise, surprise, all Welsh here!
grin
everyones welsh(yep me too), what an crock! lol
I really don't need to use this website.

My birth surname is NorthWestern English (Mancunian area) through and through.

But I did put it in and I wasn't proved wrong. It is a really easy name to spell and pronounce. IMO -but apparently no-one outside the Northwest can manage it -despite it only being 6 letters and very English. This is why I changed my name when I married (that and it being my dad's ( twisted ) name). lol
What was their data base? Mine didnt even register where my family and loads of them were born and raised according to our own known family tree...... must be a boring lot......... what a crock of ....................... !!!!!
100% here, that is on my Dad's side. Mum's was 98%, she always said she came from gypsies. smile
97.5% English

my mother's maiden name 98.33% English

Both Grandmothers' maiden names
98.35% and 98.34% English

4 Great-Grandmothers' maiden names
98.63%, 98.16%, 98.39%, and 96.64% English

So I'm fairly pure then....interesting stuff.
It was slow when you first posted because it had just been featured on the Beeb's site... it's quicker now!

So I am from Bedfordshire... interesting...
98.36% English
As I already knew the majority still live in and around St Albans. I was born in Shenley.
There is an on-line family tree that dates back to the 1600's.
Mine didnt seem to register with the family tree at all .
I m a oddity lol
Are you sure you spelt it right? ;o)
