After seeing this movie the other night I can safely say it is every bit as good as the book.

Which should tell you how poo it is. I didn't think the book was godo at all but Ron Howard, Tom Hanks and Audrey Tatou are. But it's just naff. Oh dear.
I liked a line in the NY Times review saying the movie is based on "...Dan Brown'sbest selling primer on how not to write an English sentence." grin

I also caught the end of an interesting British-made documentary investigation hosted by Tony Robinson (he of Baldrick and reality TV excavating fun) trying to find any real evidence for the Da Vinci theory. I'm paraphrasing, but he basically said it was a load of entertaining crap.

Sounds like the movie is also crap, but also manages to be not that entertaining.
Whether we like it or not Howard has fullfilled his part of the contract. According to the Beeb it's the second biggest worldwide opening ever,

Whereas L.A. reckons it only to be the fourth.

I guess the boycott wasn't as good as they'd hoped.
Had an interesting conversation with a couple over the weekend who reckon Brown's editor can be seen throughout the Code book, and was severly lacking in Angels and Demons, and should nonetheless be sacked for a lousy job of editing. grin
I Read the book. interesting story but apparently written by a five year old. Oh dear. Had "Movie coming soon" written all the way through it. Reminded me of Michael Crichtons novels/pitches. Don't want to see this but Mrs Servalan wants to go. is it me or does every film now open with the highest grossing opening ever and then slip into well deserved obscurity?

I liked the version of this story best when it was in Preacher comic, heh great stuff.
Angels and Demons was a much better book, I remember thinking the Da Vinci Code was okay but not as good. I knew the film was sunk when they announced Tom Hanks for the part. Totally wrong..
I watched the film last week. The missus read the two books and wanted to see the film. I havent read the books but like Lee I watched the Tony Robinson documentary on Discovery Times and a couple of other documentaries on A&E and to be honest I thought the film was okay. I didnt take it seriously and enjoyed the twists. To me it was like watching Raiders of the Lost Ark wink
