Has anyone bought a slow cooker in this country with a lid that stays firmly in place and doesn't spray the surrounding worktop with gravy and steam.?

I've had three so far, the last one with a glass lid,, ashtrays and motorbikes come to mind.
I had a hunky one in UK, Dark brown with a big heavy lid. Used to make some really good guiness stews in it.

Anyone found a good one?
Yeah, we have one and it is really good. But it will be way too big for you, Annie and I have no idea if a smaller version would be as good. It is big for the 5 of us!

We love ours and use it all the time. Has been fantastic since I started work.

I have one I was given by a friend's mother who was moving out of the area. It is a 1970's model, chunky brown like you describe with a glass lid that fits beautifully. I use it regularly for pot roasts, stews and chilli. I never really considered that the modern ones might be inferior in quality....hope you get one you like soon!

My mistake I thought you were talking about people who take 20 minutes to make cheese on toast oops
I'm with annie... I had a great one back in NZ. I got one about this time last year, for *cough* $20, thinking wow.. Canada appliances.. cheap! But of course, it was made in China, and the lid does not stay put. The worst thing is the clunk, clunk of it hitting the inner pot as it bubbles away. They tell you not to take the lid off because it slows cooking.. so what does it do when the lid just lifts up by itself anyway? If anyone does find a good brand, I too would like to know about it. grin
