Hello everyone! Thought I'd drop in and introduce myself. I'm Melissa and my hubby is Rich. We're hoping to move to or near abouts Asheville, NC sometime 2008. I've got to finish my degree before heading to the US. It's taken me long enough to do it. lol

I'm American by birth (a Floridian) and British by naturalisation. Rich is definitely a native Briton. I'll be a repatriate American and an ex-pat British. lol I've lived in the UK for almost 6years -- 7.5/8 by the time we leave.

I hope everything goes to plan for us for when we do move. I know I have to petition to bring him back to the US, which won't be a problem. I hope he gets employment pretty quickly, but I'm sure once all the immigration stuff is through, he can look for a job before we move over as well. We need to build up our US credit, which I already know how to do for myself. I still have a US bank account, etc. It's for Rich that's the problem. He can't apply for any type of credit since he doesn't have a SSN, which he can't get until we move there. Never mind. lol

Good luck. Hope it all goes smoothly for you both. At least you have plenty of time to plan ahead and get organised.
Wow ! I bet a lot of women dream of a Rich Husband .

If only he was! lol

Good luck with your plans! We've just made the move over and are getting settled in. Our extended family here have been really super, very supportive and helpful (my folks - I'm the American). Here in Utah there are "help wanted" signs all over the place, there are plenty of jobs to be had it just depends what field of work you're looking for. In my husband's profession (university lecturer) employment is a bit harder to come by. But construction is booming, nurses are always in demand ... hope something suitable turns up for both of you.

I used to live in N.C., and enjoyed it a lot. Hot, southern, sandy, and plenty of pine trees. This was a couple of decades ago, so I don't know what modern life is like there, but coming from Florida I'm sure you will be able to prepare your husband for the huge cockroaches, ticks, heat, and humidity that are a fact of life in the South. Of course the payoff is the coastline, rich character and history, relaxed pace of life, mild winters and balmy southern nights! Back in my girl scouting days, my troop raised enough money to go to Nags Head, N.C. and go hang-gliding on the sand dunes there. That was a fantastic experience! I'd highly recommend a holiday in Nags Head to anyone.

Anyway, good luck to you and I hope it all works out!
