I bet if I searched I would find a recipe here somewhere, but being on dial up.. my god it takes sooooooo long... so being lazy.. does anyone have a good recipe for Cornish Pasties.
My inlaws are from Devon/Cornwall and they did giveme an old recipe, but it was a war time version so has very little in it. I lived in Redruth for a time back in the early 80's when I was soooo much younger.... lol... and doing the rounds of the little towns, pubs etc got to sample plenty of them. If you have a recipe.. please sling it my way.
Thanking someone in anticipation!

7 heaped tbsp self raising flour
3 & 1/2 oz of butter
cold water to mix
Slice 2 medium steaks
slice 1 onion
slice 2 medium potatoes
Rub butter through flour then add water to
mix into smooth dough & rest in fridge until ready for use.
Roll out dough & halve. Use half filling on each, potatoes on bottom onion next then meat. Fold up pastry, baste with an egg & bake in oven at 180 until golden brown - about 45 minutes.
This is for two pasties and was cut and pasted from http//www.netcooks.com/recipes/Pies/Cornish.pasties.Traditional.html
You also need to salt and pepper the filling to taste, and of course serve with Branston pickle.
You will find a lot of internet recipes for Cornish pasties that call for turnips or swedes. Don't do it for turnips and swedes are horrible.
I did have a good cornish pasty recipe from Delia smith that I found on the internet, however, all I can find now is cornish pasty pie. I did print it out but it's somewhere in the basement and I can't/don't want to find it.

Oh, and edited to add, Debsowersby or Maczippy probably have better recipes. I haven't made any for a good while.

Here we go. I made Andrew (Maczippies) pasties a long time ago.
Hey, thanks for bringing the subject up!
I went looking for cheese and onion pasties, which I love almost as much as a cornish pasty. This site has a bunch of recipes, but ingredients are given by weight. Here is the Cornish pasty page:

being lazy here, but i made these some time ago and they were fantastic. had to split them with mrs s cos they were so big, but then i promised her we'd go to cornwall when we're over in october and get fresh ones. (my mate lives in falmouth so it won't just be a visit for the pasties)

Hey SallyAnn, you should take a trip to Upper Peninsula Michigan. Tin miners from Cornwall emmigrated there and now the "national dish " is an extremely yummy, very similar to the real thing, Pasty. They mail them too.......
Hey SallyAnn, I was in Mississauga at the weekend!
Yeah take a road trip to the U.P., eh... they even speak a dialect of Canadian there.
Sad thing is, 95% of people over here who know about the U.P. Pasties think it is a local thing and knows nothing of their Cornish origin.
mrgreen Thanks everyone! I'll check them all out and try them. Might even have to take a few over to the in-laws after the official taste test. I had tried a few store bought ones a year or so ago, and they tasted terrible, and of course probably had additives and god knows what in them. Possibly even 'flavouring-Cornish Pasty flavour'. I quite enjoy trying things out, but I have anosmia.. which is no sense of smell, so cooking isn't high on my list of fun activities.. lol.. but if it tastes good.. its a keeper! woohooooo... hello kitchen, here I come!
Oh, just noticed your post East. Hope you had a good time in Mississausage!!!!!
