First of all, Britnet will be down tonight. I am taking the server out of the co-location facility and bringing it to the office instead. The co-location facility dumped up their prices over 50% and I'm not willing to pay for it, especially as much of the bandwidth and server is going unused right now.

The server will be brought in-house and placed on my internet connection. I was paying $40 per month and upgraded to the $99 service to ensure service quality. This basically means I'll be saving $40 per year plus I will have "hands on" as far as the server goes.

Secondly, I have three things going, wehostmuds.com, the multi user hosting company, Sysadmin, Inc my own S corp and, of course, Britnet. Now, doing 4 sets of taxes per year is getting too much so I am going to roll wehostmuds and Britnet into Sysadmin, Inc.

What does this mean? First of all, Britnet will not "officially" be a non-profit service, however, Monster is keeping an independent list of all subscribers and will be keeping a list of incoming and outgoing expenses with regards to Britnet so althrough all the funds will be together, the Britnet funds will be accounted for. (Not sure if she knows this yet ) ).

Also, I am getting a number of requests for advertising. So far Britnet has managed rather well without advertisers, however some of us have done a lot of work in our own time, Myself, monster and MacZippy and it'd be nice to finally reward ourselves for the troubles. If I do accept advertising, then it will not be obnoxious popups like you see on other sites, but generally banner advertising with relevant content. Donations and subscriptions will always go towards paying for the server and never for any other reason.

How can you hel Britnet flourish? Link...link...link...whereever and whenever you can, please link to Britnet. The more links back to us, the higher in Google we can get. We're already the number one result in MSN search for british expats.

Submit links...the more links we have in the database, there more there is to be indexed by search engines.

Subscribe! Yup, send us your hard earnt dollars, pounds, euros, yen or rupees )

Thanks to everyone who has made Britnet the success it is.

Regards
Nigel
