I was wondering if anyone knows of a chart out there showing who has the safer driving records between the U.S and U.K? I would really love to see the details pin pointed out on some kind of chart as it seems like theres accidents everyday here?!

Thank you Sweetheart! Your a star!!!
So if Iranian drivers are that bad, the US can simply ship over millions of free cars and avoid their own costly casualties. Could be a Viz top tip there.....
I don't think it's just down to the fact we drive better, I think the emergancy services play a role there too. I've seen Jersey's finest at work! hope to god I never need rescueing from anything! I might be better off being flown back to the UK in the car wreck for our guys to get me out! They seem to know what they are doing.
Yes thats a very good top tip of the day from Viz
I think a lot can be put down to the following;
I do not remember situations where people were both entering and exiting the highway on the same sliproad in the UK. Oh, and the sliproad is only 100yds long. If there were these also in the UK someone correct me.
The right on red rule is great so long as people use it properly but they don't
More younger drivers on the road here because it's more affordable.
I prefered the slow lane/fast lane/overtaking lane concept because at least you knew where you were at but in the free for all over here it's a little more tricky.
It's not actually a free for , they do have rules and laws for lane discipline. It's just that they don't enforce it very often.
I won't get started on the standard of driving set by the police here, suffice to say that "show by example" gets it's rewards here!
When cell phones were banned in NJ while driving last year, the head of the police said he would not instruct his officers to "actively" enforce it, as HE did not see a reason or need for it!
I think this country is in need of a big shake sometimes, but when you look at things like driving standards, it makes you wonder just how long they can have their collective heads up a ass, lol.
So many lives could be saved, if they started to teach "thinking for yourself 101" at drivers ed, how many times do you see "near misses" because someone can't make a decision fast enough?
Kids are granted a driving licence here when they show they can shut the car door and insert a cd correctly .
goes back to the long standing american myth that is called ENTITLEMENT .
people in this country are basicly spoilt and believe that cus they happen to be born it gives them entitlement to certain rights ( confirmed by the constitution )
The problem as i see it is the the rights confired by the constition has been expanded by certian groups in this country to include other * rights * which was not the original intent of the foundling fathers .
Some rights are by mutual respect and caring everybodies right ,others are earned ...
IMO

Ie ...the employee has a * right *to have health insurance provided by the employee ,but the employee doesnt have a * right * to not provide it ...
The union members have a * right * to demand the same wage for each and every employee irrispective of there ability
But the employer/ owner /company doesnt have the **right to hire whom they wish and pay them accordingly

Wow, John, youve been reading those pamphlets from the CATO Institute while smoking or drinking some powerful stuff !
People actually do have rights guaranteed by the Constitution !
I take it that you will refuse Social Security and Medicare, because they are "ENTITLEMENTS" that we shouldn't have smile
No one is "ENTITLED" to employer health insurance, the employers started to provide it when they were competing for the best people. same with pensions.
Almost every state says that driving is a privilege, not a right.
Many of the "expanded rights" that have been taken are to avoid others having the "expanded right" to sell us defective eqipment and unsafe food etc.; to prevent employers from forcing employees into unsafe work locations to protect us from people who would subject us to dangerous pollutants so they could make an extra buck.
Seems safer on the motorway in the UK, but more dangerous on the backroads. Just the opposite over here, can be scary!!

Gladly.
Birmingham. A38M. Much more scary than the similar situations here.
How can you compare the safety of drivers between countries unless you put them all on the same roads (mirror-imaged for those who drive on the wrong side...)? Number of deaths on the road per capita may not necessarily reflect the skills of the driving population, although it's clearly an indication of where it's safer to be on the road. What about road type and conditions, road layout, climatic conditions, car quality/safety standards, driver regulations etc? How many death in the UK involve pedestrians? How many pedestrians are there in the US? et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.....
....oh and don't forget that some people believe that their fate is pre-determined so how they drive does not matter and the percentage of these people in the general population differs greatly between countries.
....and I missed terrain of my list of differences above. You skid off the road in an English village, you're likely to end up in the front room of a terraced house. In America, you're more likely to end up in the front yard. Which do you think might be more likely to lead to death? But an equal lack of skill is involved in the driving.

more people, more cars, more accidents. There are road accidents every day in most countries of the world. Or did you mean just outside your house, in which case I'd advise closing the curtains ;)
