I used to foster children. Well one of my former boys has grown up and graduated with a Business Degree. He is also a certified LAB/WAN computer tech, whatever that means. He is American. He wants to work in Iraq for the money or UAE as he has heard so much about the country from his football mates. He plays English football. He goes to Europe most Summers for six weeks and belongs to the International Youth Hostel Association. Any have any ideas. Oh, he is 25 and not married, likes girlfriends only.
Yeah, don't do it. They money isn't worth the risk. UAE rather than "I" anything in the middle east.
My dad got offered a job in the middle east in the late 70's.

The money was unbelieveable but he turned it down - had a bad feeling and all that. We were going to move to Coventry (job was with Rolls Royce) and he'd be away a month or two, then back to UK for a month off.

Sounded great but he didn't do it - best decision he ever made I think.

It was in Iran.......
You should stop watching the news and actually try it before condeming it!
I did a little under three years in Saudi before moving here, had a fantastic time. The pay now is not what it used to be, but is still very very good, and is tax free of course )
Iraq, no, would not go there it's too hot, but a little common sense goes a long way in this world. Keep your head down, and work for the money. Don't try and be clever with the local laws! I think one guy I knew who was making his own booze and selling it, is still inside in Jeddah!
Respect the laws of the country your in, no matter what your views on them are, especially a country that openely disslikes westerners.
Like I said, I had a great time, became a dive instructor out there, and did a whole lot of proper off road driving, not the namby pampy stuff they do here, lol ;)
Hell, if he goes and really don't like it, he can come back right!
