I a US citizen who is planning to relocate from the UK to Maine, USA, preferably near the coast. I will be bringing my 2 sons who are both US citizens and my mother who is a UK citizen.

I haven't lived in the States for 30 years, so I don't know anyone there at all! Is there anyone who lives in coastal Maine who can tell me about the area, the nicest places to live, the best school areas... and the areas to avoid? (If any!)

Hey Donna, you're in luck. I live in Maine, though not on the coast, but not far away.
Even after 30 years you may know that the coast of Maine is VERY long.
Do you want to live city or quiet small town. Tourist area, beach or rocks.
Do you have an area of work that's important to you?
There are few areas I would say to avoid but not necessarily for the same reasons you would.

How old are your sons, this may determine where you want them to go to school.
Maine schools are generally good.
