For all you curry-loving expats - I just wanted to let you know there's a wonderful online store for all your Indian Food, Spices and Cooking Ingredients that ships to Europe

Enjoy! lol
I don't know about amyone else, but there are Indian/Pakistani shops around Columbus with Indian food. There are also a few stores that sell the 'British' Indian stuff like Pataks. Same in Savannah. I've actually got my American in laws into Poppadums and Samosas.

Still have to travel about 20 miles for a decent curry though....
We're very fortunat ein Buffalo to have a good 5 or 6 very good curry houses. Getting a take-out curry is a beautiful thing isn't it?
For some reason Chicago seems to have more than it's fair share of Indians living here, hence a good choice of curry houses! BTW the first house we sold here was bought by the owner of our favourite curry house.
Thats cool. Anybody have as much trouble as me here trying to find creamed coconut (in the soap bar form, not in a can)? Or curry leaves. We bought some strange powder that included curry leaves in the mix, but wasn't exactly what i was after- same goes for Asafoetida, came in a mixed powder with turmeric and other spices.
There's a bunch of indian resturants here in Bawlmer, which is nice. Up in wisconsin we drove three hours to Appleton to find one, which was really good! they had a grocery store in the same building which was an added bonus grin
Amazingly enough, we have a couple of Indian stores locally so I can find that sort of stuff no problem.

The British mixes/powders are harder and I just ran out last night so it's like the world just ended until I can get an emergency supply airmailed over.

There was one indian curry restaurant who were on WGR 550 sports radio promoting a dining deal and the owner was being interviewed about the food on her menu and just generally about indian food and they (Howard Simon and Jeremy White) seemed to be so concerned about the heat, the spices and the taste and it just seemed to me that were so rude about it and tactless. The owner (a very nice and polite lady too) was very diplomatic and handled their questions very well. Apparently they also have a very large selection of imported beers too. Now to be quite honest I dont like indian food but I didn't like the way they were so crass, after all theyre supposed to be trying to promote the restaurant.

Ive noticed that since then when theyve been doing these dining deals that for other restaurants ie... burger and pizza places theyve been the greatest eating holes on the planet

Our fave curry house has Kingfisher beer! You've gotta have a Kingfisher with a curry!
This week I've been eating sushi.

Stumbled over a little resturant here in bawlmer this afternoon called Banjara, run by a chap from so he told us, northern india. Have to admit that its the best "Authentic" food i've had in ages, great dhals and fantastic naan breads - they had Porees on the menu and potato parathas too, which im very partial to, great stuff.
What more could you ask for?
was looking like crab cakes or scrapple otherwise! grin
I'm lucky to live in a highly Indian populated area and have a good Indian friend that cooks me snacks when our kids have playdates!! grin
OMG... Went ViJ's here in Vancouver on Sat. Totally amazing Indian fusion.
