I am in enjoying those cockney lizard ad's. Best thing on tv right now. I've discovered the web-site of the voice.

I also been checking a few random threads. Some Americans think the accent is upper class . The thinking is that insurance needs a good steady reassuring brit accent to get you to part with cash. Others say we should be insulted that the lizard has been given a British accent.
Would you buy insurance from this lizard?
I did ) saved a packet by switching to the Gecko, lol
I could not give a crap what it sounds like, as long as it's saving me pennies.
Tis funny about the perception of the accent though, just adds another chalk mark to the US ignorance list.

You burst my bubble mate I thought it was Stuart Pearce :wink:
Great! I'll save the link for my husband - he loves the commercials.
We don't love Geico though. To cut a long story short I won't tell it.
He sounds like some of my old mates. If folks here think he sounds upper class, then what do they think Hugh Grant sounds like?
I've not heard good things about GEICO the one quote I got from them was completely nuts, so even an English-accented Gecko won't be winning my business.
I caught an ad' last night, not quite sure what it was for roll , but the premise was ' isn't it annoying when some guy with a Birtish accent hits on your date' (transl chats up your bird wink )
You know who you are smile
Perhaps Brit accents are in vogue with advertising execs at the moment mad
I quite like the "free pie and chips" Geico commercial.

It's even more annoying when the guy with a British accent takes your date home.
/the accent has that effect on the natives
//they are powerless to resist

I've seen some that are immune or dislike Brit men altogether - or maybe it was just me! :razz:
I really do like the Cockney Gecko. When I came to the states, GEICO was Government Employees Insurance Co, Since I worked for a company that did some work for the government, we were elligeable. The only problem was that they were more expensive, so it was a bit pointless.
