Hi, I'm still in the UK but am currently applying for jobs in North Carolina where I hope to emmigrate to asap, as a radiographer. I find the whole visa system very confusing but think i'm right that I need to have secured a job before I can apply for the relevant visa (not sure which one, too many to choose from ) and its then up to my employer to sponsor my application

I'm not sure if I can apply (through my employer) straight away for a green card or if with a BSc I qualify for an H1B? I know the US is desparate for nurses and they can get greencards fairly easily, but i'm not so sure that rads are in such high demand??

Clearly I need help If anyone out there lives in NC or has any advice on the US system or working in healthcare, please let me know, i'll be v v grateful
hi,
good luck,
we are currently going thru the process,
my wife is a medical microbiologist,
we are applying for an h1-b,
once we get over there we will then apply for a green card,
i think this is usually the best way,
but anyone please correct me if i'm wrong,
oh, and yes, you need a job offer before anything else,
natt
Thanks alot for your reply, good luck with your application also!
Finding and applying for jobs here is often dependant on correct terminology.
The job here is termed X-ray technician or radiologist.
Maybe this link will help.
