That is sad. He was definitely one of the English footballing greats.
Jeez that is sad - and so young too. Osgood was a fantastic player - he and Alan Ball were great for Southampton.
I just read the news on BBC Sport.
Very sad news sad

I don't much follow footy now, but was in love with all the greats.
Will be sadly missed

I remember he played at Palace once (for Southhampton) He was being barracke and jeered by the home fans. He just smiled and blew us all a kiss - i though he was cool.

I remember watching 'Osee' the FA cup final in '76 Not the best of games but the result was good, and I felt some vindication that the Palace were knocked out by the eventual winners 8)
Well I was young I needed it

I was just trying to remember the exacy game it was I saw him play. It' wasn't the Cup Semi-Final. Where Southhampton and Palace in Div 2 together. Fells like 100 years ago

I'm pretty certain yer right mate

Sad indeed! I don't remember him too well, but I know my mum and dad will be very upset. They used to drink in the same pubs as him and Alan Hudson and the rest of the crew from way back then.

I do remember Chelsea winning the FA Cup in 1970. I was standing outside my nan's flat in Kings Road (Chelsea) all dressed up in my blue and white striped scarf and wooly hat, watching the open topped double decker bus go along with all the players waving out.

Someone from the Chelsea News took my picture with my little friend, and we were on the front page. A cute little four year old Mango with another little blue and white clad girl whose name I don't remember. roll

I thought I was famous!
