What is your idea or a good night out? Do you make a point of going out every week or every month? Do you go for the spontaneous approach and just surprise your other half? Or do you prefer to stay in with your feet up and watch a movie or read a good book or something else ;)
A good night out for me has to involve friends, a glass of wine or two and a lot of laughs. Believe it or not, the last one I had was with two friends, watching a video of a School Committee meeting discussing budget concerns!! How sad is that!!!

I take these nights out when I can and enjoy them more than dinner with hubby or whatever.
Most of the time my wife and I stay at home. We're a pretty self-contained entertainment unit. I usually go for a 'big night out' if a close friend is in town. I instantly become the NY nightlife expert - and I have no clue.

Recently my best friend pitched up in New York on business. This is a cue for a big night out- he arranged a meal for us at a fancy downtown restaurant. Eating out is very rare for us. I'd arrive back from Boston lateone Firday (see Spooky Framingham posts passum) so by the time we got to the restaurant it was becoming a nightclub.

Doormen outside would not let my pregnant wife in because she had no ID. It was odd because they were happy to let the 3 guys in (we had id) but not her. Mrs CR diplomatically went home and me and the lads went into the club/restaurant (Lotus). We ate and left and then did a bar-crawl . I arrived home very late very drunk and spent the next two days recovering.

Factor in the cost, shitty doormen, and the recovery time I'm quiet happy having haVING 'nightout' 6 months if only to remind me why I stay in.
