Alan Smith has picked up a pretty horrific injury over the weekend. He was quoted as saying "my leg was pointing one way and my ankle was pointing to Hong Kong". I rate Alan and think he would have been useful in the England Squad as a utility player or someone to get stuck in to the Germans - they don't like it up 'em.
He's going to be lucky to play again this year.
According to what I heard last night his operation was a 'success' wink
his dislocated ankle was reset and smithy had his multiple fractured leg set. Smithy's agent claims the injury isnt career ending but may put him out for eight months. I see the TV footage of his break and it looked quite innocuous at first.
That kind of accident would never of happened at Stamford Bridge wink
I was watching that part of the game and, you're right that it didn't look like much at first but with slow mo. replays from the right angle, you can tell.

.......and also the look of sheer terror on his face as well. With all the "roll around, help I need lifelight" type injuries that are usually nothing it was really obvious when you could see his face that he was badly injured. Poor guy  He looked like he was going into shock and I noticed they were giving him oxygen as they carried him off. Hope he makes a full recovery.
