Most won't be concerned, but it shook me up!
Friend of mine called to say he's going to be off work for a little while as he has colon cancer sad
He's 34 bloody years old!! I thought this shit was for old people! I have enough crap going on without having to go get a sony handicam stuffed up there! shock
Seriously, it seems to be a big killer, I never really looked into it(no pun intended), but I may just go get checked, especially now I have Abigail to pay for! I mean lovingly support roll lol
34 does seem very young. We've just been informed that this is the year of the rotarooter thingy. Mid 50's and they get you in every time. We're delaying, using all the other tests first.
Hope your pal pulls thru OK, caught soon enough recovery is good. smile
I was diagnosed with Colon Cancer in Dec 1993. I had suspected that something was wrong, but years before I had Hemorrhoids and thought it might be that. A colonoscopy confirmed cancer close to the rectum.

Fortunately I had caught it in time, they operated on me in early Jan 1994 and removed a portion of my colon. It hadn't migrated so I avoided follow up procedures ( chemo etc)

I have had 4 colonoscopies since then and apart from the awful phosphate solution needed to clean out the bowels, it's not really a rough experience. I have never had to be sedated and have watched the procedure on the monitor.

The Dentist is far more painful.
Cancer sucks. We old-timers on Britnet lost our friend Addick to cancer in August 2004. He was young too.

I understand colon cancer is one of the more curable forms, I hope your friend's youth is an indicator that they caught it early, and either way, I'm sure his youth will help him fight. I wish him all the best.

/can't find Addick's Jack Sparrow avatar right now.
Yep, I'm sure it helps to be young, just caught me a little off gaurd, so my other posts for the night may be a little terse!

/do you think this crosses the taste line?
//cancer is survivable
///ask Mrs Rude
*like wise!*
Yes it's survivable.
No, don't think I'll bother
Sorry to hear about your friend. I hope he pulls through - youth is on his side and I wish him all the very best. Keep in close contact with him - it'll do him good to know someone cares.

Thought it was quite a healthy response myself. The closer you get the weirder the humor. :mrgreen:

The time I saw my Dad come home in a state of shock was when a guy he worked with 24 suddenly died. He did not drink, smoke and worked out. He had a heart attack.

Think it would shock anyone. Have a couple of beers and thank him for the time that you were friends with him
The Times had an article a few weeks ago about the solutions used in those colon checks,seemingly they are causing a high level of kidney failures.
It said double check with the doctor on the safest solution to use.They said the most horrible tasting one was the safest to date.
