I'll be going down to Houston on the 26th Feb so there will be British Invasion on KXEZ that night. In fact, the shows on 12th and 19th of Feb will be my last.
I've decided to call it quits.
Why? Basically, I'm bored of doing it. The listening area of the broadcast station is aboit 90% unpopulated area. We don't even appear in the top 43 stations (the 43rd station on the list has a 0.1% market share).
I'm running out of music to play. Most of what I play is my own and now I find myself repeating a lot of stuff.
Since Laurence disappeared off the face of the earth, all I do is twiddle my thumbs as I listen to music I've heard a hundred times before, and could do so in the comfort of my own chair.
Finally, there is very little interaction from listeners. I get a regular caller every week who always requets something, Monster will email me during the show, Debs called 2 weeks ago for a request and apart from a few others, that's is...so...that's it from me.
It was fun, but now I don't look forward to it any more. The equipment we have to use is second rate too which doesn't help matters. It's a "state of the fart" studio.
I appreciate everyone who has supported me, sent in requests in the past and all that, but I think my mind is made up on this one.
Regards
Nigel
