So JohnA, from one of your teams to another, eh? )
I don't really see that he'd get much of a chance in the current Chelsea team. I'm not sure if it would be a good move for him.
There were rumours of Freddie in a possible exit back a few months ago. Then there were denials and etc and I read a story on TSN this morning where both parties denied there were any dealings going on.
Saying that it wouldnt suprise me if he did move wink
It could just be me but I don't see what all the fuss is about. He should be playing high school soccer still - all this fame and hype went to his head and they are spoiling him as a person and a player.
Still time for him to grow up (in both senses) so all is not lost but it would be a bit of a risk for Chelsea right now.

Thats a great point. At Washington he had that public spat with Nowak about sitting on the bench. Is Edu going to have the same kind of problem with Mourinho? After all there's a few more before him waiting on the bench.

Absolutely. I've seen him play a couple of times and he didn't seem to be anything special. Granted, he's a teenager playing at the level of the MLS which is quite an achievement, but there are a lot of other teenagers out there in the MLS that I've seen that are as good as he is.
And I agree, if he moved to Chelsea, he'd be spending a lot of time on the bench and in the reserves. Having said that, I bet they'd sign him because they didn't want anyone else to.
It would truly suck if Adu and Mikel Obi were sitting on Chelsea's bench doing sod all for the next 4 years.
This rumour has been floating around for a while now .
I hope it does,nt happen not just for dc united sake but for freddy himself .
In the ranks of MLS he is a rising star with a attitude sometimes that doeasnt help his growth im not sure his mental age is growing as quickly as his professional one
We dont wont a T.O in soccer
Im sure he wil lbe a european star some time in his career bur a few seasons down the road , to go now to a fast paced very competitive team like chelsea although to him it might appear to be a dream come true could in the end with the the nil exposure he will get be his demise .
In my mind a little to much to soon .

................and didn't we do well against Everton yesterday, eh  It was good to see Sean Wright-Phillips out on the field again. Colchester Town next, that will be interesting as that's a local team to us really as that's where Mick and both our kids were born.
...........oh and as for Freddie Adu, he's a brat and we have enough of those in the team already mrgreen mrgreen roll

  Ok smart alec, but most locals used to call them Colchester Town but that was in the days before you were even a glint in your daddy's eyes
(Now you have made me feel very very old  )

It's all going a bit "Statto" now but I believe they were completely different teams, playing at the same stadium (Layer Road) briefly and actually, my dad was but a glint in his dad's eye when Town folded
I remember when we played them in the Div.3 playoffs one year and I somehow picked up BBC Radio Essex's live commentary of the first leg from my house in Bracknell. We lost 1-0 and then I drove down to the second leg and it was a cracking game with us winning 3-1 and going on to win at Wembley.
I'd like to see Argyle Athletic vs. Newton Heath (L&YR) FC in a cup game one year

Well I'm not as old as your grandad and you are probably right about Town and United being different. When did it just become United then? I looked on their Website and it only does a History from the nineties, we left England in the eighties so maybe thats why I'm confused. I have been to Layer Road before though and now it looks like they are building a new stadium and doing very well this season as well!
I imagine that a lot of the old Colchester supporters we used to see in the pubs still thought of their team as the Town. You know how these old local yokels are, and that was before all of Essex became inhabited by London overspillers.

Honestly, these Chelsea Academicals fans don't know anything....

Yes, and when they are "blondes" it's even worse  (You cheeky git! )
