So I don't get to watch My Name Is Earl or The Office tonight because this is on. My prediction - "the Union is strong." My wife is out tonight though so I'm thinking of making a drinking game out of this - any suggestions? At the moment I've only committed to drink a double whiskey on the 4th word of the speech (which will be "9/11" by the way....probably.)
Usual bull most likely.
I'm looking forward much more to seeing the Daily Show pick it apart afterwards - though most likely they won't until the following night.
I'm waiting more for The Colbert Report take on it. That show is hysterical.
A friend of mine from Virginia just emailed me this, which she says her and a group of protestors have printed out and are going to take to Capitol Hill to protest. It's comprised of soldiers who have died in Iraq.

I think I will work late...very late rather than take the chance of catching this idiot in full bullshit flow..

I thought those shows were on Thursdays nowadays?
Yeah I got that wrong - it's actually Scrubs that's on tonight. Bah!
I couldn't bear to watch the SOTU. Theres something about the smugness of Cheney and Hastert sitting behind W. that makes me want to put an axe through the TV.
I've watched them in the past but the bucket needed a good clean from last time and wasn't readily available.
Usually the sycophantic applause at every statement gets me. It needs some fair heckling, Houses-of-Parliament-style groaning and some smart arse to stand up at the end of George's "What I'm Going to F**k Up This Year" speech and ask what happened to last year's Social Security revamp?
Cindy Sheehan was kicked out because she had a slogan on her teeshirt, she had been told in advance, so she must have been setting up to sue. Another woman was kicked out because she had a "Support the Troops" slogan on hers. She is the wife of a politician so there will be an inquiry.
The applause/cheering is forced to some extent because the press keeps count and publishes the result.
Am i the only lucky one who slept through the whole shabang mrgreen
sounded like this
BLAH BLAH BLAH
Stand up Clap
wait one two three

I was having dinner and caught up with it today through news analysis and blogs. Easier to stomach that way.

Disgraceful - even more so than usual.
I'd be interested to know what law or rule Sheehan broke, other than disagreeing with the President.
Another own goal for the Neo-Nazis (sorry Cons)?
Sieg Heil.......
There is a dress code. She broke that. Don't think she should be arrested. Maybe kicked out. OH well sure I will lose sleep, not lol.
