Yes, my Windows Media PLayer wont play anything from the internet but will play movies and music from my PC? WHen I try and play something from the internet it says 'Windows Media Player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.'

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, didn't fix the problem?

Would love any advice?
1) Operating system?
2) Version of Media Player?
3) What kind of content are you trying to play? Does it happen with audio, video, everything?
4) How did you uninstall and reinstall it?
get a new computer smile

Hear speaks someone who hates computers and has had to work with them for 20 years.
Getting a new computer just because a single program is messed up is a little excessive... even if meant in jest!

East 17? any idea?
Dude, take a breather. Don't expect instant results, we don't all spend our whole lives in the basement wearing Y-fronts and eating Cheetos.

Well, I eat Cheetos, that's about it.

Is your XP fully up-to-date? (Service Pack 2)

OK so any audio and video files if you download them will play, only video played off the net crashes it. Can you play anything else off the net (music)? Give the the address of the page you are downloading or streaming the video at, and if there is more than one video there tell me which one. Post this in a PM if you don't want to tell us you're on a porn site ;o)
Steve!

Computers do my head in, if it wasn;t for me lass I wouldnt have one but have so gotta use it.

ANyway, what you ask about what I was trying to download, well heres one

Actually not if it's a windows machine, probably the best thing you can do...they're built to be ditched every 18 months or thereabouts...

You can go the slackware route and make the hardware run on Linux. Hardware for a PC doesn't need to be hotrod for everything.

Is this the only site you have had trouble with? I couldn't get the domain to respond at all Tried going to the homepage popi.com, tried pinging it, this parrot is no more.

Nowt wrong wi't browser, lad.

Rubbish! We bought our first PC 9 years ago and it is still running well. Slow compared to todays computers but still very usable. Oh, and just to confirm - it is Windows 95
