Must say i'm a bit chuffed. Been here since dec. 04 and finally, after all of the form Filing, photocopying, biometrics and telephone robot voices, finally we don't have to do any more.
My green card is in the mail and i'm an unconditional permanent resident, or something. Crikey! Does this mean Americans will stop asking me if i'm from Australia, or is that a different form?

Are you sure that isn't a conditional permanent resident?
In another 2 years you get to go through a whole other set of form filling and phone bots to have the conditions removed and get your 10 year card.
Well it would be a long time to wait to get the conditional through a married application wouldn't it? So I'm guessing servalan is going the work route and they have speeded things up a little?
actually , that might be more like it. I have a work permit (temporary) so it might be the two year one. Its all a bit confusing to be quite honest. I'm still looking for job, but we're happy to be through this far.

(Later)
Just spent a while online, seems I am now a Conditional Resident. That seems to be more believable, still a while to go for Unconditional Status, couple of years by the look of it.
I'm still chuffed though, finally seems as if things are moving along, actually starting to feel as if i belong here rather than just visiting.
Anybody else get confused by all this? or is it just me? never was the brightest button in the box.. grin
(Crumbs.. i do say "Seems" an awful lot)
Trust me this isn't a place you want to say "you belong" to....
