I've managed to last over a year here, and after a six month gap, we've just re-subscribed to Netflix. I tried to like US tv, tried to follow shows week to week, tried to like the mediocre, recycled dross that gets shoveled out night after night. We had cable for a while and it was the same thing, but repeated at a greater rate. Six back to back episodes of CSI Peckham Rye or whatever its called this week, I looked for movies and tv shows that would stir my soul, move me a little, half an inch.
I lay awake at night reliving all night channel four marathons of Kieslowski or Ken Loach movies (Did see the Navigators recently, so things aren't that bad) or the Legendary Red Triangle movies from a few years back, not much porn really but exposed me to fairly decent arthouse movies from a tender age. Aaahhh Art House movies at christmas, Hong Kong movies night after night, special presentations of Scenes from a Marriage or Fanny and Alexander - godzilla movies, in original language, The Phantom of the Opera, Nosferatu and Sunrise in all their restored glory running at the correct speed with tinted sections intact.
Movies not edited for running time, content or promotional items.

Is there something that i missed? Do i have to sign up somewhere with the immigration police to get the proper TV?

And I only watch 2 hours or less per night, now we're watching more because of the tv shows we rent from netflix are multiples on a disc, and all the shows we like are ones that got cancelled.
Not that i'm overly concerned with this sort of thing, just had a funny couple of days when i wanted to watch tv and it was shite, guess that it really got to me. ! !

I guess that makes me sound like a bit of a gorilla(!) oh well, its off my chest now so i can go back to beating it with my fists (Fnaar Fnaar!!) ((My chest ,that is))
Crikey!!!!!!! shock
Moving to America is a marvelous opportunity to reclaim all those hours you previously devoted the worship at the couch of the potato, and to channel them into something more worthy, like worship at the office chair of the internet ;)
