Hi... we're both true brits... I gave up my career, social life, friends and financial independence to move to NYC with my husbands job in spring 2004. Lived in Brooklyn Heights for the first year and we had our second son there (he has more ID points than me!!!!)
Moved to Westchester (suburbia or what!!!!!) in Spring 2005 and love the area. We have been here nearly two years and still know absolutely no one! Had one British chum in BH in same boat as me... and she's now moved back to Blightey. Just got chummy with an Ozzie here and now she's being relocated to London with her hubby's job! ROTTEN LUCK OR WHAT!!!! The neighbours are a real mixed bag... they bring boxes of Dunkin' Donuts if you invite them round for dinner ! ! ! ! !
NOT QUITE THE GIFT OF ALCOHOL we're used too!
I get to say hello to the Mail man and the CONED meter reader every now and then! The rest of the time I keep my two boys under house arrest for fear they might pick up the local accent.... Just kidding!
Love the place, can't imagine going back to Blightey... EVER! But I could do with some 'BRITISH' company every now and then! Oh and for those of you who may have noticed a NYS Drivers License would be quite nice to have too....
