Is it just me or do the flight prices to Engand this season suck?!?!?!! evil I have flown over for $300 (including taxes and fees) a couple of times. The only time I paid over $400 to fly to England was over the summer - but that's expected. Now I look up flight prices between now and April and I cannot find anything under $700. I'm on Travelocity and it will show a price for around $350 but once you add all the taxes and fees on they are back up to $700. I've checked everywhere else and I cannot find anything much better...
Maybe those days of cheap flights are gone...... cry
I don't know if you've noticed, but Airlines are going bankrupt.
so yes, cheap flights are done........
I want to know where this place called Engand is.
/sounds Scandinavian to me...
Depends where you fly from and when. I have been looking on Orbitz and have found quite a few flights from Chicago to Manchester for $402 - $580 depending on the date. Put in your criteria, then sign up to be sent an email when the price drops to your specified amount. Works for me.
Summer is probably going to be pricey, I have not found anything from Chicago to Manchester for less than $800 after June 1.

ugh! The spell check in my brain wasn't on!
Thanks for the advice guys. I would be flying out of Minneapolis and would prefer to land in Manchester.
I just spoke to a co-worker who said her travel agent friend told her that the government has recently imposed new taxes and fees on flights - that's why when Travelocity sends me a "low" fare of $350 another $200 - $300 is tacked on in taxes/fees.
my flights in March from san fran to heathrow were 600 all in, no stops. I didn't think it was too bad, but the flights at xmas are extortinate. I could get out there for 300, but is cost me 700 to come home....hmmm!!!
Yep I think cheap flights have gone the way of cheap oil.
The cheapest flights from Minneapolis are almost always with Iceland air via Keflavik
I am paying $456 per person to go to the UK from Denver in March. I booked on Travelocity last October.
I think as airlines are welching on pension plans and laying people off, renegiotating contracts, the price to fly to the UK will continue to rise, and in my opinion rightly so.
The flights themselves were ridiculously low, but I think about $150 were taxes and fees.
I wonder if you can claim those taxes on your income tax?
I wonder if you can claim those taxes on your income tax?
Nope, only if it's for work (like wot I does...)
All my expenses (when I'm paying) are write-off-able

If you have a home in the UK that you are renting, and travel back to the Uk, you can claim the flights on your taxes I believe. I'll check with hubby
What gets me on this one is how expensive it is to start a round trip from the UK. Even British Airways charges much less for starting at this end.
I'm stuck trying to look for a cheap way to get my boys over at Easter (3 of them) - of course I have to pay. No one ever thought their Dad would cough up the readies. lol.
Looks pretty good but it's a shame there's no Chicago or St Louis in there.
