What is it with males and the not wanting to touch women's knickers!  I state male rather than men because this is our 15 year old and not the husband!

So, the situation is - Finals week is approaching and many papers have had to be written over the last few weeks, and now I am studying for finals.  On top of that I have also been working and hubby's hours at work have been totally crazy.  Those who know me  grin  know that keeping up with the washing is my biggest problem!  To make life run a little smoother, it was decided that the kids would have weekly chores rather than daily ones.  So the rota is dishwasher load and unload for a week, garbage and recycling out of the house and down to the road for pick-up AND returning garbage pails to back garden, and doing the washing and tumble drying.  First week was Katy's turn on the washing and she did a good job nearly keeping up with it and managing to do a load a day.  This week is James' turn - the 15 year old (Katy is 13 I might add) and half way through the week Katy and I run out of knickers!  So, off downstairs I go and there they are, strewn all over the floor! roll

Family meeting time needed - Katy and I question James over the lack of clean knickers and his reply was, there is no way he was going to touch them with his bare hands.  If we had a pair of rubber gloves then he would consider doing it but would need to be paid more!  Katy couldn't help but laugh and reminded him that for the past week she had had to deal with his crusty boxers lol   then the point came that her thongs get stuck up her butt crack which is 'supposedly' worse roll   What the problem with my knickers was I have no idea - never got the discussion that far!

anyway, in the end, with the supply of disposable gloves (which I just so happened to mention were downstairs if he was going to be that anal about it all) Katy and I now have some clean knickers.  But James can't wait for his shift at the washing to be over and Andrew's turn will be next - he is 11 and hopefully won't think twice about his sister's underwear, or mine for that matter lol

So men, what is it about female underwear that is so different to the smelly male garments?  If a woman does a man's washing, why can't you men not make a fuss the other ways round?  Please note - the fuss made by the 15 year old does not come from within the home because his father just gets on with it (even though he nearly had a heart attack the first time he discovered his daughter's thongs in the wash - he didn't know what was what she wore! shock  lol )
Reminds me of a joke...

A woman and her husband go to the doctor with a nasty bug they've contracted. The doctor asks for stool, urine and semen sample from the man. The woman says, "That's easy enough. Give him your underwear." lol

Don't know why he's kicking up such a fuss. I've never had any trouble with it. Maybe one of his mates found out and gave him a hard time or something. ???
For those old enough to remember (I do - barely) the days before automatic washers, they used to make large tongs to pull the clothes out of the almost boiling water to put through the mangle, or ringer. Otherwise you would scald your hands. maybe you could get him some of those to pick up the knickers!! wink
I really don't understand, I love womens underwear....did I just say that out loud. I love the way they look on sexy chicks, there you go. Thats much better.

I remember those tongs!

My mum has probably still got them lurking around somewhere as they were used when she would boil up dad's hankeys with a handful of salt ( to knock the bogeys off! ) before they went in the washing machine. We had a Rolls twin-tub in those days and washing day was such a palava with piles of clothes everywhere and clouds of steam.

Ben, maybe you should get a supply of paper knickers in case the same thing happens next time James is due for laundry duty!

Debs x

So, just read all this out to James (don't I just know how to embarass the lad grin ) and he wants a pair of the tongs! lol
I think it's maybe just a male thing.

Perhaps he's just at a funny age.

I think perhaps one of the Britnet men should explain
Afraid of touching knickers? Definitely not a male thing and just the blokes in your house.
I have no problem with [strike]wearing[/strike] touching ladies undergarments.

Hey, just so you know I've been married for eons, I had a twin tub in the first few years of married life and had to use those horrible tongs for moving the hot wash into the spin dryer. Was ever so glad when him indoors had to take over the laundry chores when I came home from hospital with first child. It wasn't long before an automatic front loader was purchased

How very Little House on the Prairie of you.

Also, maybe it was that the knickers were his mums rather than some leggy blonde.

Bungle, you may need to read the post again - hubby doesn't have a problem, it is the 15 year old.

Moo, I don't think it is just his mother - his sister is a leggy blonde but I get the impression he thinks she is even more nasty!

Oh the joys of teenagers

This might come as a shock, but how about washing your underwear, the same time you are having a shower/bath? That way, you won't run out of clean pants, and no one will have to wash anyone's pants. idea

There seems to be something nasty about thongs, one of it, your son touched on in your original post. I think panties get a better press than thongs. Think Hugh Grant in Bridgette Jones Diary wink

A lot of teenage boys, like the VPL ( visual panty line )
