Seeing the other thread about christmas decorations reminded me to see what others where doing for xmas in the way of *external * decorations .

Living in the bible belt one would think that every other house would have a baby jesus, angels, manger , and all the other chrsitian paraphernalia in there front garden .

Not so .... exepting that the cities decorations are of a segular nature i only found religious decorations in the local churches * understandable * and a total of 6 homes out of the 350 i drove by riendeer, sleighs ,santas , trees, where in abundance but hardly enywhere to be seen was a little boy in a cot with his mother looking over him wearing a halo and accompaned to shepherds .

looks like the message is sinking in

A town in *GODS COUNTRY * of texas with hardly a referance to the almighty .-)

Did have a assistant in the grocery store wish me a happy christmas though but i wasnt acosted by the bell ringers as i left .

The times they are a changing

How about your home town ????
Good. There's far too much religion in Christmas in the first place.
Anyone notice how churches are very seldom decorated externally? I mean, I know its the 'commercialization of Christmas' and all that, but I'd thought they'd put up a least something to recognise the most important time of the year for them.

Otherwise, here in Columbus, about every other house is decorated. I did notice that they seem to decorate less in the south. Maybe its the weather making it not seem that 'Chrismassy'.
I thought Easter was the most important time of year in the Christian calendar?

/still trying to work out what segular decorations are and if I'm quilty of them ;)

It is.

Anyway, John I don't think they sell inflatable Big beardy Gods or Jesus' in Santa suits, otherwise I'm sure more people would have them up.

Well, all three have beards and they all grant wishes, right?
