Let's all stop for a minute to mourn the passing of the Routemaster. Sad to see the end of the road for these beauties...

I remember hanging of the bar at the back of the 137 and jumping off before the bus stop - saving precious seconds and looking cool in front of your mates ...unless you fell over of course..
grin

Red buses, clippies, that very cosy back seat. cliff richard's Summer holiday with Una Stubbs ...all no more cry
Can't they leave anything alone?<sigh>
Just watched the jim'll fix it clip, on the skid pan,lol
How odd that a forty year old double decker bus can skid without tipping over, yet they can't build an SUV to do the same in the 21st century.
I suppose they are not entirely enviromently friendly, but neither are the French, should we get rid of them as well? ;)
Oh sigh another page of history closed .

I remember the advent of them when i worked for london transport before going to british airways way back in the 195Os
I used to watch the driver training in the * skid patch* at chiswick works they would drive them at a tremendous speed then slam on the brakes, the bus would shake and sway from side to sidewith such a force that you though any minute it would capsize and hit the tarmac with a tremendous bang .. i never did see one do that .

\One of the safest vehicles ever designed by man .
The Routemasters have been withdrawn from normal service, but you can still see and ride some because they've been reintroduced on some "heritage routes" -

I got another one....

Women walks into the bus depot - attractive, short skirt, big breasts..

Butler says 'Corrr blimey!' .

The last one rolled over the westminster bridge yesterday. It's a shame really, I loved thoses buses, and the fact that you can just hop on and hop off, made it a fun way to get round london, whenever you were in town.

My 6 year old son's teacher looks just like "Olive"! (i.e, off On The Buses). Just changing the subject but do you notice nobody uses "i.e" in US?

nope. nor p.s. (it's n.b. here)

also asap is fairly limited in my experience, aob (any other business) is unheard of, and there was another one that came up at preschool the other day that I cannot remember for the life of me right now, but I'll be sure to let you know when I do.

The Routemasters last day turned into a bit of a kerfuffle - nice article above.

I met Olive 'screen husband' Arthur when I was little. My youth was a whirlwind of celebrity parties on the Cote D'azur or did he come to open our School Fete? - you decide. neutral
