Can anyone help - my 17 year old son has been convicted of drink driving. Does this mean he will be unable to travel on holiday to the USA in the future. He had hoped to work in the USA from time to time as he will be involved in film making. I would be grateful for any advice.
Does your son plan on driving in the US? He can't get a car rental til his 25 and if he's driving someone elses car he would need car insurance which they won't issue you here without a US licence. He could try getting an International drivers license from the AA (I don't know what they'd do about the DUI). If he comes here on a work visa he could apply for US license with his papers without a British drivers license. He would need to take the test. Hope this helps a little!
I drove when i first came here on a international licence * issued by the AA * but i had that before i got the D/D conviction .
its a toughie the rental company wont authorize a rental .

Suggestion since he is not very old have him take a test here in the US and apply for a license as if it was his first one .
DUI is not a 'crime involving moral turpitude' so he should be OK. (I think it should be but that's US Immigration for you. Smoking one joint or shoplifting is more serious than potentially killing someone).

If he run over a nun it would be classed as * moral turpitude * under this administration .

Still he could plead not quilty and swear he thought it was a penquin
