I am taking some people to Minneapolis this weekend so they can spend the WHOLE weekend at the Mall of America. We have to leave here at 6am so they can be there in time for opening, and leave there at 6.30pm on Sunday.

Personally, I can think of nothing worse than the MoA 3 weekends before Christmas, apart from the MoA 2 weekends, or the weekend before Christmas.....

Does anyone know of anywhere in Minneapolis that does British food/things? I have two whole days to fill, and will be based somewhere in the Flying Cloud area.......
Brits pub downtown. You'd have to get on that monorail thingy they just finished. It's a nice big pub run by a Londoner. There is an attached restaurant with British meals, pool tables upstairs and even a bowling lawn outside....although you probably won't be using that this time of year.
Brits pub is nice and Freddy (not sure if he is the owner?) is a really nice fella. My husband likes the fish there. I like chips and curry sauce - although the curry sauce does not taste the same as what I have had in England but it does taste really good. The outside (lawn bowling area) is partially open for smokers right now since Minneapolis now has a smoking ban. Just a couple blocks north of there on the same street (Hennipen Ave) is "The Local" which is an Irish Pub/Resteraunt. It's a nice place too. Both places will be pretty busy on the weekends especially in the evenings but you should still be able to get a table and have a nice time.

Scramble - What made you move away from Minneapolis?
Clemantine and Scramble,

Thanks for the suggestions. As I'll be on my own, (I think my passengers will be shopping til they drop!) finding a space shouldn't be too hard!

Does the Brit pub have Irn Bru or haggis?????
Hi Fernitickles -

Here are links to Brits and the Local so you can look at the menus. I scanned over them and I don't think I saw Haggis

Hope that helps! )

The in-laws live only an hour or so away from Springfield and we wanted to be closer. My wife is a nurse so she can get a job anywhere....maybe we'll move away sometime.

Thank you for all your help. Looks like a friend is coming with me, so I might be able to introduce them to fish and chips!!!
Hope you have fun at the Mall of hell lol
Don't forget its freezing here right now, but for some reason the heat the mall to what seems a hundred degrees inside.
I don't envy you, that place is packed this time of year, maybe you can spend some time in the aquarium.

I hope you had a good time in Minne.. let me know if you liked Brits (was it "British" enough?)
Clematine

Thanks for asking. I had a fun weekend in the end. Dropped passengers off, and they disappeared to the mall pretty sharpish. Friend and I got there later, managed one circuit of each floor, then escaped to Ikea, where she had never been before. Went to Costco the next day, (she'd never been there before either) and got ourselves stuffed on all the freebie food before picking up the pax and heading home again. Never made it to the Brit pub, so can't give you a verdict there, sorry. But I did find some Green Ginger Wine at the liquor store near the Eden Prairie mall, so that was a treat )
Eden Prairie mall, you were right by my house )
Next time let me know and I will put the kettle on.

Thanks for the offer. That was my second trip to Flying Cloud, so maybe I'll get another one sometime in the future. If I do, I'll bring the teabags....
