....as he was known in his younger days.... has died. What a sad end for him. Everyone was a George Best fan when I was young - he even wrote a weekly column in Fab 208 (a teen magazine). He was great - it's such a shame that he ruined his life with alcoholism.

I'm not a football fan, never was, but George certainly had that "something special" as a player. It has been heartbreaking watching him along his chosen path of self destruction.

My sympathies go out to his family and friends at this time - they are the ones who are now left to suffer the consequences of his actions.
