Just to add, that so far, there is nothing more satisfying on the Xbox 360 than blasting "Call of Duty 2" over the surround sound system, especially when you fight as the British in North Africa, where some of the non-player characters shout stuff like "Got you, you Jerry wanker!"

Truly marvellous inclusion by Activision, especially in this day and age.....

(Now I wonder what the German voices are saying - I can only pick out basic stuff like "In deckung!" which means take cover and the odd mention of "Tommy".)
I saw a news item from Sony that said the new Playstation 3 (which may or may not debut this year) will cost between $700 and $800, with Sony taking a $100 or so loss on each console.

This seems a bit steep for a console although it is realistic if they are putting the Blu-Ray drive in, as that alone is worth several hundred dollars.

Sony's share price took a dive so I guess the analysts figure that the 'kids' aren't going to be able to pony up this much for a games system.

That said, I spent over $1,000 for my Xbox 360 and ten games before Christmas but recouped most of the excess by trading the six games I didn't want at $60 a pop. Wasn't a problem for me but I bet it put a lot of kids or their parents off, when the systems were in such short supply and only available in packs with games you may or may not have wanted.

Sony could still win though. The backwards compatibility on the 360 was never going to be great from the descriptions but I hear so many complaints from original Xbox owners that can't run their games and sold their old consoles. At least the Playstation 3 sounds like it can play the older Playstation games off the bat, without having to wait for programmers to write patch code.
Well if all the crazy britnetters stood in line for it I did,nt

So I must be the only sane one
???

Because, of course, it's perfectly sane to answer a question (that you've already answered) three months after it was asked. All what crazy Britnetters, btw? You didn't bother to read the other answers before posting did you? Nice bottle of wine, eh? lol
I suspect that like me that John saw the initial posting and also like me (maybe) he thought he would re-visit.

I must admit to not having any interest in video games, but was wondering if it's becoming increasingly difficult to find the time to make use of all the various electronic time consumers that are so prolific in many households. eg Game boxes, ipods, Computers, and TV.

How do some of you find time for any other activity such as conversation?

Does trash-talking your mates while playing on a console count?

Often, with online games, there is the attraction of being able to speak with other players in real-time. Like an international phone call without having to pay for it plus getting to hang out with your mates.

..and clearly the favourite topic of conversation is garbage (and the taking out thereof) -often the participants are recently attached young men who have just learned that this is now their responsibility. Hence the term "trash talking" :)

Wasn't that just one of the most awfully frightful middle-class reactionary television programmes?
