We gave it a miss here as I only really wanted to play Elder Scrolls from the release titles but it got moved to March next year, so no waiting for me. I will just have to do with every other console and handheld on the market at this house for now wink
Busy playing GTA Liberty City right now on the PSP, I may change my mind thou if a decent 360 game comes up as right now I cant see me stumping all that cash for a better looking Madden or PGR.
What's so good about the Xbox 360 anyway? Does it make cups of tea and bacon butties?
Most of the games consols seem to be pretty advanced, I can't see how they could make one that much better that someone has to camp out all night in the freezing cold.
1) Would never pay full price for anything from Microsoft
2) Would never own a Microsoft gaming system
3) Would never buy a gaming system that looks like a paper shredder
4) Am very much a late adopter - shopping for PC stuff at NewEgg rather than getting it from BestBuy
Good - more for the rest of us. I quite like how the thing looks and it will fit perfectly in a vertical, narrow space I have in my entertainment centre. You could always get the Atari retro systems that are out again this Christmas.
NewEgg sell the XBox 360 too. I saw it there when I was trawling through, selecting parts for a build PC. Not that they have any in stock at the moment.

I'm quite happy with my PS2, it plays GTA and DVD's... don't really need it for much else.
However, if you're willing to take the time and hack a regular X-Box, they can do some fantastic things. Friend of mine has hers set up with a MAME emulator, NES emulator and all manner of retro gameplaying goodness. I'd consider that as like the only X-Box option for me.

Ouch baby, very ouch.
Didn't say I go for the ancient! Just that we don't go out and get something just cos it's new. 80% of those in the overnight lines for the 360 are only there so that they or their children are not left behind in peer pressure.

I agree with you and sorry - wasn't trying to be rude re: Atari. To be honest, I may pick one of those up this week as they were a blast way back.
232 pages of ebay listings for the 360 console seems to suggest that America's black market is doing very well. Well, there is something of a war on so I guess it is in keeping......

You can always buy the Namco Museum (available for both PS2 and X-Box) series if you want retro, I have a couple of those and it's all Mrs Rude will play. Those Atari handsets are pretty good but eat batteries and are kind of fragile.

Is it any good? Does it stick to the 3d view of the regular PS2 GTA's or is it an overhead view like the originals?
Liberty City is kinda a mini vice city, 3D and in played in third person. The PSP is almost as capable visually as the PS2 with the screen being small enough to render with its 333mz CPU, the game look nice.
The game has it's handheld quirks thou, the map is small to read while racing or running from the cops but the PSP only has one analog stick so when the perspective gets stuck sometimes as there’s no right stick to spin the view. Gotta say the PSP is a good system with the web browser, MPEG, MP3 capabilities and the UMD movies if your rolling in cash instead of ripping your DVD's to the memory stick that is wink
You know why these games have no appeal for me, everything in them looks kinda foggy, the vehicles look unfocussed, the "humans" look weird, with not very human features and such, and everything is so "blocky"..
Maybe it's because I deal with people and speed on a real level, but these games so odd (not real) in terms of graphics..

I kinda like that. Reminds me it's only a game. The sheer unadulterated exuberance of standing on top of a skyscraper blowing up helicopters causing them to land on the people rappelling out of the burning falling helicopter - did I mention it this large ball of pain then happens to land on several large police vans FBI vans and a firetruck which all go boom?
/plus you gotta love any game where you get a mohawk and leathers as an outfit
I still have a Spectrum 48k with the rubber keys somewhere in my sister's attic. 8)

Ah I miss the days of Jet Pac, Laser Squad and Moon Patrol. There was something to be said about simple gaming, shame Gametap does not pick some of them up instead of all the old Atari2600 stuff. Emulators are such a pain in the neck these days, I am more that happy to pay for simple in my old age

Yeah, you're old.
